We are local and have tried this cafe 3 or 4 times. We came recently and it was very busy so couldn't sit in thought we would get food to take out. I'm vegetarian so I chose the veg flat bread my family eat meat but we didn't feel that the young man on the till was very helpful would have been helpful if he spoke up and explained what was on the menu just didn't come across as very friendly or helpful. I ordered mine but they didn't order. It took a while for mine to be ready i ate it in the car and it was lovely and very tasty. We decided to try again this time they were less busy and we sat inside unfortunately no omelettes flatbread and jacket potatos on Mondays and Tues doesn't really leave a lot on the menu and even less for vegetarians. We chose a sandwich each but again the staff not very chatty we tried to chat to them but it was a bit uncomfortable as the guy didn't chat back. I heard another customer ask the person taken the order what paniniis they have the guy replied anything I think a friendly we have this this and this available rather than anything would have been a better response. Nice simple food not a lot on the menu but its OK for a snack. But for us it's not just about the food we like to feel welcome and have a chat and just not feeling it...
Read moreHad read about the Chatterbox Cafe in the local Weardale Gazette, so myself and Tracy decided to have a ride out in the car and call in at the cafe for lunch. We arrived to a warm welcome from the owners and took a seat from the moment we sat down we were greeted with pleasant chat and excellent service. Tracy decided on the ham and salad in a brown granary bun and I decided on the bacon sandwich in brown granary bun, both sandwiches were very tasty and fresh as well they did not hold back on filling the buns which left you feeling satisfied, so to end our lunch out Tracy had the Lemon Drizzle Cake, and not to feel left out I had the chocolate cookie. For drinks we had coffee, where there were free refills available which is very nice as Tracy does like a cup of coffee. More customers arrived after us and they received the same warm welcome as us and the owner struck up a good rapport with the children who came in with the adult. So if your looking for great food and beverages and a really friendly service you would be hard pushed to find a better cafe, and the scenery on the way to the cafe is very nice too, so why not have yourself a ride out and experience the warm welcome and chat for yourselves and enjoy the lovely food and...
