Not been here for many, many years. Probably over a decade. Had a few recommending Sunday Lunch here to me, recently, so we booked and called in for one today. Excellent! I had the beef. Delicious. I'm really fussy about meat and any fat, gristle or rubbery texture instantly puts me off and means I won't eat the rest, but I devoured my 2 thick slices. Husband had the meat medley. Came with tasty and substantial selection of side vegeatbles, large yorkshire, as well as mash, a roastie, a parsnip, pig in blanket and stuffing ball and gravy plus extra gravy. Fair prices and looking at the menu there was a good section of other dishes too. Would loved to have tried dessert but was absolutely stuffed, following the Sunday roast. Service was good. Prompt and polite, as well as checking in that everything was OK. Definitely would recommend.

Called in today and we were greeted by 2 lovely young lads we hadn't booked but were seated straight away and in a few minutes we had drinks and had ordered food. We haven't been here for quite a while but the pub has had a massive refurb, totally different looks really stunning. Not usually one for taking foodie photos BUT when our food arrived we both grabbed our phones. Food was beautiful, Cod and a Parmo, homemade chips & fresh salad, both large portions we were absolutley stuffed! Staff were really friendly, it's a gorgeous pub and fab food. Would definitely recommend. Thank you!

We had lunch here to celebrate my daughter being back from uni because we’d heard good things. Sadly, the experience did not live up to what we’d heard. We went in and first impressions were very good. The interior was very impressive. The decor was tasteful and interesting and the furniture was new, clean and substantial. It seems a lot of time and money has been spent. We approached the bar and this is where it all started to fall apart. We asked if there was a table available for us. The lady behind the bar nodded to a gentleman who huffed a bit looked around and appeared mildly irritated. The bar was far from full. There were perhaps half a dozen tables being used and far more unused. He reappeared and nodded to a table where we sat down. Who doesn’t love a warm welcome. There were a range of menus in stands on the table and it took a while to puzzle out what was what. The menus were busy and crowded and it took more effort than it should have to chose a meal. We were a mostly veggie party. The choices for meat free meals were limited. However we ordered veggie burgers that were described in the menu as chicken styled. The meal was supposed to come with nachos and we ordered chunky chips. There was a good selection of drinks. Our food arrived fairly promptly and the guy who took our order was pleasant and helpful. The ā€œchickenā€ burger turned out to be a standard round ā€œbeefā€ style burger which was pinkish in colour in the middle. There were no nachos and the chips were few. Although the food was ok it wasn’t anything special and the chips were very obviously frozen. We had ordered dessert. Most of us got Eton mess, my absolute favourite. Again we were disappointed. The dessert was constructed using a large dollop of yellow vanilla ice cream and topped with squirty cream, a strawberry and a teeny bit of meringue and a drop of raspberry sauce. The balance and quantities were all wrong for me it needed more fruit, sauce and meringue. We finished our meals and I went to the bar to pay our bill which came to over Ā£100!!!!! I nearly passed out. I actually had to ask him to repeat because I thought I’d misheard.

In conclusion then, the refurbishment is outstanding. I really enjoyed the environment and the relaxed music was just at the right volume. Service post welcome was very good as was the speed at which the food arrived. The bar looks great with a good selection and the place felt and was clean. The negatives are that the menus need work. They’re too busy and the selection is poor, the welcome needs work. The quantity and quality of food needs much improvement if it’s to warrant to the current pricing structure. Value for money is poor. All in all I feel we had a nice time but not the great time I was hoping for. We left still hungry and feeling like we’d had our...

I tried this pub on the recommendation of a friend as it was dog friendly. I’ve no doubt it is dog friendly. Though there’s an absence of water bowls. The car park isn’t designed for disabled people and I couldn’t find a disabled parking spot. I do have a blue badge. Need my door open fully to access and exit the car. So getting in and out was a bit painful. After that, approaching the bar, I ordered my drink and asked for the vegan menu. The barmaid had to ask another member of staff where the vegan menu was and was promptly told, ā€œit’s on thereā€œ, the other staff member pointing to the menu. I read through the menu to find the option of a spicy bean burger. (It was all I could see at that time). When I ordered, I was asked where I was sitting, I had literally just walked into the bar. I was advised there was a spot in the far corner which would mean walking past numerous people with my dog. Instead, I suggested I sit in a chair close by which was being vacated by the people already there. The staff member acknowledged this, could see the table and the mess on it. Having seated myself, with my drink, eventually my food arrived. However, my table hadn’t been cleaned. There’s been plenty of time and was in direct sight of the staff. So my plate was placed among the empty plates already there with the empty glasses and various wrappers from sweets that the previous people had been eating. As stated I opted for the spicy bean burger. I often cook my own food and have a ā€œin case of emergenciesā€ supply a frozen food in my freezer. This burger was like what you would get from a superstore through the frozen department. It wasn’t freshly made. (Ā£2:49 for four I think? Around 60p per burger). It was poorly heated and certainly wasn’t spicy. It was as bland and tasteless as my ex girlfriend. At Ā£14:99 I’d expect something a little better and not frozen or heated in a microwave. The centre of the burger was mushy. I very nearly had a ā€˜Gordon Ramsey’ moment. I take my time eating, not excessively, just a normal pace. My table as I said hadn’t been cleaned, yet soon after I finished I was approached and asked if I wanted anything else. So my plate was taken away and the rest of the table left. I don’t finish my drink. I just left. If you’re vegetarian or vegan don’t bother. I could have called into a chippy and thrown a burger in the oven. It would have been better cooked. Staff might be over worked and underpaid? Certainly something up. I’ve been to...

Was looking forward to visiting after they have had the re fit. Got to say its much improved to what it was and the outside beer garden looks like it will do very well in the summer. This was the first time that we have been there this year and we live within a mile and half of the pub, so we are often out walking the dogs, as many people are from our estate and we would drop in for a couple of drinks and some food when passing. However.... we walked through the door and asked if dogs were allowed (advertised as this) response was, have we booked and we hadn't so were told that we could sit outside (which was fine as I presumed they had heaters) and to be honest, I dont mind this at all as its better for the dogs and everyone involved... even though it was practically empty and there seemed to be more staff than customers (4 o'clock Saturday afternoon 26/2/22) ? The person that spoke to me said he would turn the heaters on, so sat outside and went back in and ordered drinks and asked for a menu, to be told there was no food ! Also asked about the heaters again and he said they would be on, went back to the table with the drinks and told my wife that there was no food and if she wanted to question why she should ask the question as his manner was not good to say the least. She then went in and asked a different person about food and got the same response, so asked why as its advertised as food from 12 - 9 on the website and was told, "they had loads of bookings at 5 o'clock so they didn't want to clog up the kitchen" ! We drank our drinks and left (still no heaters!). I do wish them all the best, but if they continue to deal with people the way they did, it wont do very well and that's a huge shame, as it has so much to offer but at this point cant deliver on it. I dont do many reviews but if you continue to treat people like the way we were treat, I feel that all the hard work and money that has been spent will be wasted. Sorry, just...
