This place is appalling. Overpriced beer served by incompetent staff. I visited on a Sunday afternoon with my wife and son. I waited at the bar for someone to serve me for about 10 minutes. Four staff members converged on the customer side of the bar, had a 2 minute conversation and dispersed into 4 different directions. Not one of them looked at or acknowledged me. When someone eventually appeared behind the bar they asked if they could help me. I said yes they could and asked what the delay was about. She angrily replied that they were very busy and doing their best. The place was 2 thirds full max and there were plenty of staff around. Then another member of bar staff arrived, apparently more senior than the last one and asked me if there was a problem. I said that yes, there was a problem and began to explain why I thought so. He started to argue back at which point I said that if he didn't understand why there was a problem he shouldn't be working in hospitality. Then I asked if he was going to serve me or not. After repeatedly asking him the same question 4 or 5 times he eventually said that he would. This took place 3 or4 months ago and I have not been back since. I am not a moaner. I have worked in hospitality for decades so I'm not second guessing what the level of business was on the day of my visit. These people on another occasion were standing outside the pub on a busy Sunday afternoon in the summer audibly taking the piss out of customers in the bar room. People who are known to us, some of them friends. This is already extremely long but I could go on for a lot longer. Do not waste your money in this...
Read moreNice atmosphere in the revamped pub. Landlady already making herself known by stopping selfish males from propping the bar up while they dump their partners in the pub !! The bar is smaller than before so any body propping up the bar only adds to the queue at busy times . Well done. Recent visit 11th July-We have just been for lunch with a friend ,nice to see the outside eating area well patronised. The baguettes were fresh and well presented by the attentive staff. Not long to wait either even though there were many customers for a Monday lunchtime. Well done to all the staff and landlady.Certainly won our friend over, who was a bit sceptical , so I think that now means there will be more visits for him and his friends . Latest visit-Sunday 25th September- been for a full meal with friends and we all have left very impressed. Although extremely busy with a couple or so parties and the pub virtually full, the service was exceptionally brilliant, The staff as before were excellent and nothing too much trouble. The Robinson s Trooper at a bargain £2.50 a pint rounded off a great afternoon out....
Read moreWe turned up and it's exactly what we wanted. It was a welcoming pub with a great family atmosphere. We sat outside where the kids played on the climbing frame, making new friends with other children who turned up. The food is reasonably priced and there was a pretty good selection. I was quite surprised at how big the portions were, even on the kids menu. The one thing that let it down was the service. It took over an hour and a half for our food to come out, granted it was a busy day, but when there are staff being told to collect glasses instead of standing around chatting, it was clearly not understaffed for the level of custom. As our plates were cleared, we asked for a dessert menu and unsurprisingly, it never came, we waited nearly another half hour before we...
