We decided to book here based on the reviews and as it was a bank holiday Monday decided to book well in advance. I really wished we had not bothered.

We were shown to our table and handed a paper menu titled Hog Roast. The menu had 2 main courses on it. Scampi and Chips or a veg curry. At first I thought this was a specials menu and asked the waitress for the full menu, to be told, they had had a very busy weekend and this is all they could offer.

At NO point prior to our arrival did the restaurant try to contact us to let us know of the limited menu and had it not been a bank holiday Monday and that I had just driven down from Scotland I would have walked straight back out. We decided to make the most of it and ordered. The mains arrived and they were acceptable. We were about to order dessert only to be told that the sticky toffee pudding was not available. As nothing else took anyones fancy we decided to order just coffee, to be told the coffee machine was broken!!

How can anyone run a restaurant this bad and manage to get so many good reviews. This place is a joke, I cannot stress enough how much it should be avoided until there is new management in place.

I have attached a copy of the menu to show that this was what they considered...

Very poor - We visited the Coach and Horses on the 5th August 2017. We were quite impressed with the selection available. I ordered the steak and Chicken combo and my partner ordered the steak and ale pie. Ordered the drinks and was given the wrong one, but no probs really. When the food arrived I knew looking at the state of the chicken that it wasn't good. Not too sure how the chicken was cooked, but it wasn't fresh. It was pre-cooked, white, insipid, and cold. The steak which was suppose to be rare was OK to be fair, but well cooked. The crust on the pie was like chobham armour and even after soaking it with gravy it was fairly unbreakable. The chips were fairly disgusting leftovers too. The peppercorn sauce was forgotten as well and brought later (weak and warm). Pretty sad all round. We did complain and had a beer and the sauce taken off the bill, but because the manager wasn't there, that's all we could have deducted. Cost us Β£38 for very poor meals. Wouldn't recommend this...

We stopped here completely by chance while looking for a place to have some dinner whilst driving across the country. We were happy to find out that we could sit inside with the dog too.

We were quickly seated at a table and found the menus had a good range of choice. Two of us chose burgers, one the truffled cheddar beef burger and the other a tandoori chicken burger. The other two chose a Antipasti sharing board.

The food arrived in good time and was thoroughly hot. My beef burger was excellent, I really couldn’t fault it. The tandoori chicken burger was also very well received.

The Antipasti board was quite a good size and so I ended up having some of that too. The quality of everything on it was faultless and the sourdough toast was a particular highlight, I’d have happily eaten a whole plate of that myself.

Faultless experience at very good value for...

I returned to Rillington today where I grew up, after walking my dog I called in at The Coach and Horses Pub, where it was warm and welcoming and had some foot tapping tunes playing, all surrounded with modern comfortable decor and festive cheery decorations, I was met by the manager malcolm who appears to be a ' jack of all trades ' as well as a welcoming and friendly man, I ordered a coffee, and then some authentic english comfort food in the form of a substantial portion of giant yorkshire pudding filled with ' Turners Butchers' sausage mash and veg, it was hot, delicious and unfortunately beat my appetite, I thankyou malcolm and staff for the warm welcome and friendly atmosphere in what is a great little yorkshire village, with links to malton, York, and coast, I hope to return and warm my toes after walking in the beautiful countryside once again 😊 πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ 🐾

What a lovely pub. Great range of beers ciders and real ales. If we could have stayed for longer they have a fantastic selection of shots 😁. All great value. The lady (Sky) behind the bar was super friendly and chatty, with a great knowledge of all the real ales. It also had a lovely beer garden. Definitely worth a visit. (But it's only open on weekends)
