My husband and I dined here this evening. We had high hopes based on other reviews & the menu sounded good. We booked a table in advance, upon arrival, we asked if we could have a different table but was told no as they were all reserved. We sat there for 2 hours & the table we wanted was still free.... our waitress didn’t seem very knowledgeable about the menu, didn’t tell us about the fillet steak special either. We ordered the shell on prawns & lamb ribs to start. The portions were very small & the food itself was average & very bland, certainly not worth £5.75 each. The portion size would not matter if the food was flavoursome, but it was not. We were worried that the main course would be terrible based on the starters. However, we were pleased that the main courses of rib eye steak & chips and beef burger & chips were good - and it should be if you want to charge £18 for a steak with no sides & £13.95 for a burger with no cheese. This is more expensive than London pubs (I live in London so am familiar with the prices) A side of chips was £3 and was so tiny, it looked like a kid’s portion - shocking. The desserts were truly disappointing - the peanut butter profiteroles were extremely dry with not enough filling or chocolate sauce. The sticky toffee pudding was undercooked, stodgy and lacked flavour, rather a waste of £7 each. I did mention our disappointment to a woman called Angela who brought us the bill but she just shrugged & did not comment, didn’t even offer an apology - very poor customer service. Overall a rather underwhelming experience with hit and miss food for £82, not worth the price tag. What a shame as this place looks so good from the outside but the poor food and service ruins it. I would only recommend this place for drinks, definitely not food. There are much nicer...
Read moreHaving driven for over an hour trying to find somewhere to eat, we stumbled accross the Coach House Inn. Fortunately had enough space for us to eat (Not fully booked up like all the others ) .
We rushed in around 7.45pm after being informed the kitchen glosses down around 8pm.
Quickly escorted to a table, situated on very clean, airy and comfortable surroundings.
Promptly followed by the waiter with the menus . He asked politely ,to order the food, so the Kitchen could get underway with our meals.
We did choose , but must of gone past 8 as the selection was concise and got the taste buds going ! .
We ordered drinks , which were served immediately .
The food followed within 10/15 mins .
It was presented immaculately, hot and absolutely delicious.
We pushed the boat out and had a varied selection of hot and cold deserts .
Again presented immaculately and delicious.
The priced menus are short , precise and very accurate. Printed only on one A3 sized laminated sheet , there's no hesitation or confusion caused .
Would recommend this place for somewhere to dine in a heartbeat .
It's not the cheapest of venues , but the quality and attentiveness of the staff is second to none .
As they say , you get what you pay...
Read moreMy friend and I stopped in here for Breakfast. The building is very nicely decorated. We took our seats and viewed the menu and surprised to see the prices for what is a cooked breakfast. We opted for the big breakfast coming in at £17.50. Extremely expensive even compared to London prices where I’m from. I have paid £55 for a breakfast before in Mandarin Hotel in London, now that WAS worth every penny. Well this one was absolutely shocking and not worth half that amount. 2 slices of toast was just 2 warm slices of bread. The 3 rashers of bacon was 2 when it arrived. 2 rock hard (over cooked) poached eggs. A slice of Black Pudding which was not cooked, it must have had the same level of heat as the warm bread that should have been toast. “A THIMBLE OF BEANS”… I would be ashamed to present them - I wish I could post all the photos we took. Half a tomato and mushroom were as described, as were hash browns. Sausages were good. Conclusion is it’s a rip off for a poor quality meal. Due to over cooked eggs and a thimble of beans and dry warm bread, lead to a dry breakfast.
You should be ashamed to put that on a table and more so...
