We tried to book two of the top restaurants in Whitby for a Saturday night anniversary meal, to no avail. Our cottage rental host recommended the coast cafe in Hawsker and we secured an early evening booking. We were greeted at the door, all covid regulations being followed. What followed was a fabulous experience. Wonderful service, attentive and organised. The menu although small looked appealing. I chose pan fried sea bass with tagliatelle, my wife had the scampi( a first for her). Food arrived , hot and plentiful and in good proportions. Both plates cleaned and thoroughly enjoyed. The sweets to follow were fabulous, apple/blackcurrant crumble with custard and fig/almond tart. Simply adorable. Service throughout was exceptional and the experience was a joy. A hidden gem. Will definitely return....
Read moreI’ve lived just outside the Whitby area my whole life and I had no idea that this cafe existed. My partner suggested we go as we were working out in the area and get a coffee. The decor was fantastic very fresh and up market but with a relaxed feel and it’s nice to see they do themed nights. Steak nights, French, tapas. Hot chocolate was luxury standard. Super friendly staff very chatty and welcoming. Perfect place to go on a rainy afternoon for a beverage or something to eat. Theres a canvas sign that says cafe but I’ve never seen it and passed many times. I do feel it’s because it blends in with all the other canvas signs around it. I wonder if a sandwich board style sign might be more noticeable to passersby. Tends to be the kind of sign that you associate...
Read moreI love this place!, its the second time I've been since lockdown was eased. Its the only place I feel safe, and 'normal', considering the world's going crazy. First time my daughter booked and we sat inside, just four tables, spaced out, no hustle and bustle, no one in our personal space. Staff are soo lovely, very reassuring, welcoming and friendly. The food is beautiful! Caters for vegans, vegetarians, meat eaters, people with gluten allergies ect. Second time I went with my friend and we sat outside in the sun, again tables spaced apart, everyone has their own area to feel safe in. The cakes are out of this world, you have to sample the gluten free...
