This is a great beach cafe, which offers plenty of seating indoors and out on the many terraces. You can also enjoy the takeaway menu or an ice cream whilst sitting on the sea wall or beach. The Captains Cabin is open from Easter to the end of October. The management and staff ensure the environment and food are delivered to a very high standard. It has an all-day comprehensive menu. The licenced cafe is very popular with both locals as holiday makers... at the height of the season, the cafe can get really busy, so be prepared to queue. However, once your order is placed and paid for, you can sit back relaxed as there is full table service and enjoy the beauty of Colwell Beach. The Longbeach bar: is also owned by the family; it is situated above and behind the cafeteria...the bar offers the same stunning views of the sea, beach, and the mainland. There is plenty of seating for everyone; a family games room and both venues are dog friendly. There is a range of hot or cold drinks both veues have a alcohol licences. The Captains Cabin is open from 9am to 4.30 pm, and the Longbeach bar is open from 4pm to 10pm. Both are reasonably priced and have helpful and family-friendly staff. Across the slipway is the ice cream parlour, with a large choice of flavours along with a brand new whippy ice cream machine. There is a council car park across the road, puplic toilets and two beachside shops, selling everything you need for a beach holiday... ice creams, swimwear, sunhats, and the...

Ā£13 for a basic sandwich on shop-brought sliced bread served with the most miserable looking, minuscule salad garnish youāve ever seen which, upon closer inspection, HAD A HAIR ON IT! I showed the person at the counter who ācouldnāt seeā the hair, then tried to make out it was a piece of onion, and then, after consulting the kitchen, offered us a slice of cake as a condolence, which I only accepted as it is made off-site at Calbourne Classics who are generally brilliant and we were really hungry, but in hindsight I wish Iād asked for our money back because it was genuinely such a miserable experience and I still resent paying almost Ā£40 for two zero-effort sandwiches with limp iceberg lettuce (which I couldnāt even eat because it had a ruddy hair in it!) and two very basic drinks. I just didnāt have the energy to fight that day, but wow, was a disaster this place appears to be....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place gets 5 stars just because the friendly staff that are so helpful. My daughter decided she wanted a ham sandwich for tea and even tho it was only on the lunchtime menu, the staff were more than happy to make a small half sandwich for her. It's obviously very popular with the locals which is always a good sign. The food is very good and also plentiful, reasonably price. We returned 3 nights running. We were planning to go to The Hut, which is slightly further up, but after walking past it one evening we decided it didn't seem all that 'family friendly'. It has a nice outside area with stunning views. They also have...
