Cornish lavender fields.... ? More like 1/4 of a field. Coffee was bland and weak. Frittata tasted odd and was £5 for a 4 or 5 bite size piece... I would think it's quite difficult to make a pastry-less quiche taste odd but you managed it. Staff at the refreshments window seem to get confused by any sort of request... Wasps everywhere (get pest control in to deal with the nests)
Complete waste of time driving down the narrow lane to get here.
Would give zero stars if that was an option.
Edit (after reading the below response....) :rofl
Let's make a few corrections...
Thankyou for the dog waste bag. Perhaps offset the 1p cost of it against the £5 tiny slice of disgusting frittata... Or the £2 can of coke. Or the £4.50 coffee that tasted of muddy water. Weak muddy water at that.
Our spaniel would not have touched your precious couple of m² of lavender "fields" and we returned him to the lead as soon as asked without fuss as soon as I knew this wasn't allowed. (Didn't see a sign) we thought the other 3/4 of the field with no lavender was ok to allow him to run around. Interesting how a "dog friendly" place decides to use a person's pet to attack them in a review response..... Hmmmmm
I did not barge in to order a coke. I had ordered before those people and quite honestly thought they had finished ordering. I had no idea it would take your staff member several minutes to process the info in her head before she could write it down.
We also received no advice or invite to take our order anywhere else. Other than the wasp infested tables.
Oh and by the way some chunked up iceburg and cubes of "seen better days" cucumber and tomato doesn't constitute a salad...
Your attitude to feedback explains why things are as bad as they are there... No desire to improve. Just a sad attempt at having a go back at your customer who went out of their way to visit you and spent their hard earned money with you. No one cares about your jive at me. I'm not the one being reviewed here. I'm the customer who wishes he had the couple of hours of his life and his £11.50 spent at your cafe back.
There's more I could list that was not great but I'll leave it there.
Edit 2: The owner posted on facebook how hurt she was to receive a negative review - which prompted all her friends to post reviews to push mine down the list - so be wary of those positives - many are fake from...
Read moreIt was a real shame about the food and service today. The lavender field itself was beautiful. The huts we sat in were also beautiful. The girl working in the gift shop area was lovely. Unfortunately, we ordered the savoury serving platter costing £12 and the sweet serving platter costing £12.
Firstly, the portion sizes were so small. For the savoury platter we had; a spoonful of hummus, two falafel, some chopped tomato, some mixed leaves, six small olives, two pieces of what seemed to be pepperoni, a few small pieces of cheese, and maybe half a slice of prosciutto ham. Secondly, we were not given what we should have received. We weren’t even made aware of the missing items. I had to keep asking and get the menu up on my phone. There was a major lack of communication from the staff. No bread or anything to eat the hummus with, no sausage rolls, list goes on.
Despite the number of missing items, we still paid full price. To “make up” for the countless missing items, we were eventually given two scones. No jam; no cream; nothing other than the dry scones. The lack of items were due to a wedding the day before, which we were made aware of after we had paid and received our food, and had to keep asking where the rest was.
The sweet platter: once again, the portion sizes were so incredibly small. I cannot put into words how ridiculously tiny the portions were. A scone, in two halves, with jam and cream on each half. As well as three other treats split into halves - if you combined these six portions you would probably have a small slice of cake. If that.
I really am gutted to have paid £24 for those platters. In addition to the service being so unhelpful and unsure of what they were doing. We left very hungry and dissatisfied.
I love supporting small businesses but this really was a terrible experience. I'm unlikely to return, but if I did, it would be for the pretty lavender field and the beautiful bees that whizzed around it. The field itself was...
Read moreVisited this gem not realising you get to sit outdoors in a glorious lavender field. What a treat! We arrived and were greeted by the owner who straight away got her friendly young staff to offer blankets and a high chair for my children. The cream tea was delightful and service was swift even though they had to carry it up to the top of the hill where we chose to sit for the best views. I only wish there was more to buy in the shop. Would have loved to pick up some lavender plants and other lavender smellies etc. I left feeling I had money to burn as the pricing was very, very reasonable for such a great setting and experience. It was also ideal for eating outside with toddlers, who ate quite messy and want to run about in a field of lavender. They had plastic water cups too which I could give to my 2yo without worrying he was going to break anything. It’s an ideal morning or afternoon out. I look forward to planning...
