Costa Coffee Christleton DT — Restaurant in England

We went on opening day after the school run. It was understandably very busy and well staffed (number wise obviously in preparation for opening rush) but what I hadn’t thought about was because they take cash payments it was FULL of high school kids. Most of them ordering frappes and milkshakes which took a long time to prep. As a result there was very long queues.

We won’t eat in again for a while until the rush to visit from the locals etc dies down. What is handy though is they offer other lunch food from M&S, so if you fancy something a bit different to the Costa food there’s that option with your coffee.

Outside area with benches is nice to sit at by the canal side.

Carpark is handy if you’re not a local enough to walk there.

Just received a flier through the door detailing their offers. If you use your own reusable drinks cup every 4th drink bought you get the 5th one FREE in store! (As opposed to every 8 drinks get the 9th one FREE in store).

Unfortunately there’s been a problem with the speaker system on the drive through since opening. So they are awaiting an engineer to fix it. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼 this will happen soon.

Was really looking forward to trying here and was met with a really rude woman at the drive thru who just made me and my partner really uncomfortable. Was no hi or hello as she opened the windows and giving my partner dirty looks as he tried to pay but as she took a while to sort the card machine my contactless had gone of which she then sighed as my partner fumbled to fix it. My partner has anxiety and autism and this experience has completely put him off coming here again which is unfortunate because the location is so nice. We must of caught this lady at a bad moment but her attitude was awful. On top of that our hot chocolates were cold and didn’t taste like hot chocolate at all tasted watery. Very poor hygiene standards on the day I visited ( 3 July 2023). This is a new service and they need to get their act together. Lots of rubbish outside at 11am created poor impression before even entering the building. Coffees were OK if tasteless but things went downhill upon visiting the unisex loo. No loo roll and no soap. As this is a food premises I reported the issue straight to a member of staff on duty. She looked disinterestedly at me and although we stayed at least 10 more minutes drinking our coffee no member of staff serviced the toilets in that time.
