Really lovely family friendly restaurant. Child's portions are MASSIVE (i should have ordered one for my two). Food was tasty. Clear allergen menu and lovely attentive staff. Would definitely go again. Theres a kids playground/field and small animals just outside of the pub. Theres also a small pub garden. Can highly recommend. Only slight negative was that there was no baby change facilities in the ladies bathroom.

My partner and I booked for Sunday Lunch and having previously visited once before - and read many very positive reviews recently - we were looking forward to another well prepared and nicely presented meal. The food arrived and met our expectations - visually, at least. An appetising sunday roast of medium-rare beef, roast potatoes and a good selection of vegetables. After a couple of minutes, my partner remarked that her beef was 'inedible'. I reported my concerns to the waiting staff and requested a roast chicken meal instead. This duly arrived and was perfectly acceptable. Unfortunately by this time my roast beef also proved to be completely inedible, but given the delay so far, I opted not to complain again - and despite my best efforts virtually all of the beef was left on my plate when the waitress came to clear. My partner remarked to that effect and the waitress pretty much brushed it off with a comment along the lines of 'that's a shame' (paraphrased). No offer of dessert menus or Coffee followed. After a short while waiting in vain for some kind of follow-up, I finally decided to settle the bill. At no time was there any acknowledgement of Cottage Inn's failure in any respect - leaving me feeling that our imposition on the establishment for having booked lunch was the root of the problem. Maybe I needed to have been much more direct in my complaint, but I wrongly expected the staff to use their initiative and take a rather more proactive view of their responsibilities to ensure customer satisfaction. My mistake...

We have been going to the cottage for several years and the service and food has always been great. My son and daughter took me there for Mother’s day lunch. Three of us had a good meal but my daughter’s chicken was not. At no time during the meal did anyone ask us how our meal was or if we needed more drinks! When they came to clear the plates my husband mentioned my daughter wasn’t happy with her chicken, she asked if she wanted something else but by that time we had all finished our meals. My daughter went to pay for the meal and mentioned the chicken and was “I cut into in in the kitchen and it was fine and no-one else has complained.”. It was a chicken breast! My young was very discreet in her complaint, but was made to feel that she was making it up. I myself could not cut into the chicken easy and if it had been good my husband would have eaten it. I feel customer service was not good she humiliated my daughter when she was just telling the truth. A shame as was a very good pub for a long while and food was good, but you don’t argue with a customer!! However...

Came here today for Mother’s Day, have been coming here for years and have always left happy - until today. Had a roast chicken and all was fine except the chicken which was dry and inedible. I commented on this very discreetly and politely to the lady behind the bar who responded in a manner which was nasty and condescending, saying she had cut into the chicken and deemed it to be fine as nobody else had complained. The chicken had clearly not been freshly cooked and was difficult to cut in to. Was really surprised as service here is usually great so was disappointed to be met with such a rude response, almost as if the employee thought I was lying so tried to catch me out as if I was a child. To add insult to injury she took only £2 off the bill, the roast dinner itself was nearly £15 and bill as a whole £75. Shame as I’ve recommended this to a lot of people and been coming for years. Will not be continuing to do so, or...
