Cranfield Spice — Restaurant in England

We have ordered before in the past from here and we liked the food! Credit where it is due. It was late but I am far too lazy to write a review out unless my experience was fantastic or awful.

My experience the second time I ordered was the worst customer service ever. I mean, I am writing a review, so that's a giveaway.

I am a foster carer and at the moment I have a sibling group of 4 gorgeous children who love Indian food. They spent the afternoon reading the menu and choosing their food. We were going to have a little party! I ordered in the afternoon and understood they were not open yet. When they did open I checked the website (I don’t have the app) and it said it would be an hour. No problem. After an hour and a half and no usual text to say its left the restaurant and a LOT of nagging by 6 hungry children (4 foster and 2 birth) I called to check they had remembered us which is what most would have done.

When I called the man was foul. He said ‘It was just leaving and it would be faster if I wasn’t wasting his time by calling’. He also said ‘you managed to order ok on the app so check the app and you will see that I said it was going to be late’ The children grabbed the phone and said ‘we’re hungry!’ They thought it was a fun game but I realized this guy was not child friendly and so I hung up and said ‘Lets not bother the nice man, he said it was just leaving’ to them.

After another 30 minutes and me telling them ‘It won’t be long now I am sure!’ I checked to the website. I could not believe it. The order had been cancelled. I rang him. I said ‘you’ve cancelled the order? You said it was about to leave! ‘ He said ‘we have enough customers already so I cancelled it’.

Yes I was mad. And I told him I was. The children had been so excited, they have been let down by adults their whole life and here was another one. I told the man this. He could not have cared less. Lovely.

It was already way past their bedtime so there was no time to order elsewhere. So, in summary, if you want nice food and want to gamble with there being no problems then this is the place. If you care about good customer service if there are any issues, avoid...

Completely disappointed. Late delivery. Good missing & horrendous customer service. Phoned to chase up food when 20mins late to be told it was out for delivery. A further 25mins and I chased it up again to be told ‘there’s loads of calls and eat ins there’s nothing we can do - orders get muddled’ I said - but I was told it is out for delivery & was told ‘we’re busy’ so I asked to speak to someone else - I was then on hold for a few minutes and then they hung up on me! When I tried to ring back the landline number was redirected to a mobile phone with no answer!! If I’d been advised the delivery would be so long I’d have gone to collect it. Finally the food was delivered over an hour late & I said I wanted to check it was hot; the delivery guy was very pleasant (only plus) reassured it was and apologised for delay; I explained it was being lied to that was the issue. However after opening the bag we found we were missing a main dish so the issues kept arising. Tried to call the restaurant but yet again redirected to mobile with no answer. Unacceptable customer service & there’s nothing I can do as paid online so I guess I’ll be making a trip to the restaurant in person tomorrow & won’t be...

I had ordered here once before and food was nice so tried again, Food was bland, meat was dry and I found a couple of bones in my chicken, I am aware that this can happen, but I have never had this in a curry anywhere. Customer service was rubbish, no offer of any compensation i.e discount off next order etc. I called to complain and the man on the other side of the phone said he will take this up with the supplier, and this was because they use real chickens (he said this seriously, maybe my son had one of their non real chickens, as he said the chicken tasted funny lol) I told him the food was bland and dry, he told me that I should go to the restaurant to eat as it will be better quality, as where I live is quite far so the taste could be compromised.
