Rude & Embarrassing!!!

Upon arrival, believing we had everything in order for my Birthday celebrations, we were told that we wouldn't be allowed on the course due to our dress.

Admittedly, one of us was wearing denim/chino shorts, and two of us wearing unbranded golf shoes. We were told by the arrogant and totally obnoxious 'Pro' in the Pro Shop, that these were against the dress code. I had called 2 weeks prior to our visit to check on the dress code, and was told "Collared shirt/polos and golf shoes/trainers" would suffice. There is also no information what so ever regarding a Dress Code on the website.

We understood that there was an insurance issue for players going out in the wet without appropriate foot wear, but taking into consideration that one of our party was wearing Callaway Slick golf shoes, with next to no grip what so ever, was deemed appropriate next to our pimpled golf trainers. This made absolutely no sense at all!

This forced us into no other option but to buy some expensive golf shoes from the Pro Shop. Thankfully, the friendly chap in the shop (who was incredibly embarrassed with the actions of his boss) was hugely helpful in finding us some "appropriate footwear" and even stuck on a hefty discount, to make it worth our while.

In an attempt to not allow the actions of one arrogant individual ruin our day, we set off and had an absolutely fantastic time.

This review would be a 1 star due to the totally rude and infuriating experience caused by this so called Pro/Manager (or what ever title he gives himself to feed his ego). But, the wonderful staff who truly made our day and were incredibly apologetic on his behalf.

Huge shout out to the lad in the shop, the wonderful lady who served our breakfast and the very pleasant barman at the end of our day.

Unfortunately, we wont be returning anytime soon, until this "Pro" is gone. Fair play to all the staff there that must have to put up with his bullsh*t on a daily basis.

Dare I say it, this individual won't last long at Cricket if his attitude towards polite, paying customers...

The food here is fairly priced and delicious. Presentation was second to none and the portion size was so large we came home with a doggy bag and felt guilty for so much waste from such excellent culinary skills. Denise and colleagues who served us were upbeat, cheerful and chatty. Definitely going back again. The only reason it's not 5 stars is that I would have liked a steak knife to cut my lamb. Admittedly I could have easily asked for one and am sure it would have been given but the thought should have been there. Also we would have liked a cocktail to finish the meal but they didn't do them neither did they have any Chardonnay and actually 3 customers asked for it so I would suggest they by some in.
