Crammed into a noisy busy bar for a meal with no consideration about how we could even hear each other, never mind enjoy our meal in the immediate vicinity of people enjoying a pint and being very jovial as you would expect.

Eventually got moved to the quieter dining room after asking to be moved, not sure why they didn’t put us there in the first place? Probably my fault for not stating the obvious when we arrived.

It took an hour for our food to arrive although I did have to ask what was going on. No apology and no explanation. The order was wrong and waitress seemed annoyed that we mentioned it.

We tried several times to get the waitresses attention to order more drinks and deserts but they showed little interest in us and seemingly tried their best to avoid us. It was very clear they were avoiding eye contact and hurried through the dining room quickly. Not once were we attended too.

Eventually I conceded, paid the bill and left.

I mentioned the problems when paying at the bar, but again there seemed to be little explanation or apology. The staff just did not seem interested in us or our experience.

Such a shame as I brought my family here to based in my own previous experience of the food which is quit good.

We had intended on booking here for a large party this weekend however I don’t want to risk the embarrassment of a repeat experience again in front of my family and friends. I couldn’t get anyone’s attention to discuss it anyway.

I generally avoid doing reviews but this experience has left me annoyed as this place is on our doorstep and should be so...

We took a friend who was visiting here because it has a reputation for great food and good value for money. Unfortunately, our experience belies this reputation somewhat. Two of us had sausage and mash. The sausages were tiny little things and one of the oversized plates came out with a miserable-looking portion of mash: it was miserly. To their credit, the staff provided extra mash when we complained, but really, it shouldn't have come out of the kitchen like that (potatoes cost very little compared to the cost of the meal). I had the halloumi burger, with chips. Again, the chips came out in one of those ridiculous baskets (so they look more than they are). The burger had plenty of halloumi in it but that's about all that can be said of it. We might have been happy with the meal overall, if it had been reasonably priced. But, in our view, it was at least two pounds a head too much and the halloumi burger...

We ended up here after our Sunday MTB ride not realising it was quite small inside and that they just served Sunday lunch on that day. Despite bookings really being required the staff kindly managed to fit our table of 4 in. I'm not really a Sunday lunch fan as I'm not a big veg eater but having said that I enjoyed it despite the carrots being a tad hard, the presentation of the dish was great. I went for two courses and chose my favourite sticky toffee pudding and because it's my favourite it's therefore determined the 3 stars. Unfortunately the sticky toffee pudding itself was tastleless and the custard was the only flavour and quite frankly the custard was rubbish with a funny taste, I was tempted to just leave it which is unheard of. I wouldn't visit again based purely on the pudding which may seem harsh but I think if you can't get a staple pudding like that right then I may as well...

The food was very enjoyable (despite my rare steak being a little over medium) Unfortunately, the landlady was at best "standoffish... bordering RUDE. The pub has a clear clique of locals who gather around the bar and get/expect preferential treatment. Delays in ordering, waiting for the bill and QUEUING to pay, meant an hour lunch took well over two hours. We had a well behaved three year old. I sensed despite the children's menu, that kids aren't welcome. Shame. I repeat, food was good 👍

Great Food Great Choice Great Service We was staying in the village and on our first night we visited this DOG FRIENDLY pub for a bite to eat. We found the staff very friendly and welcoming. The pub was lovely, just what you expect from a village pub. The menu was very good and the food was great, it must have been because we came back for another 2 nights. We highly recommend this pub, I'm sure you will too, once you've tried it.
