Joyous little place worth incorporating into a loop to the kilns or around Blakey Ridge. Luxuriated in the cute, well-manicured and quirky (teacup trees!) garden with a well-deserved milkshake (would’ve preferred milk and real ice cream over Shmoo powder) but the mackerel pâté was delicious and a slice of cheese with the Yorkshire brack an excellent local touch. Good selection of teas (surprised to find Yunnan green and would’ve sampled if it hadn’t been such a hot day). Decent gluten free options as well. We’ve been coming to Rosedale for thirty years and never stopped in but we’ll definitely return for more!

Stayed here in the Shepherds Hut through Pitch Up. You have to go along a proper country road to get there, but oh it's worth it. Maggie was on hand to guide us through everything at the hut and how covid had changed things. She had left short bread in the hut ready to have with a cup of tea, it was amazing. She suggested walking routes, which we did on the second day, they were stunning. Each morning Maggie brought out our breakfast, every day it was fantastic - I should have asked her if she was a chef.... She truly made us feel welcome and looked after. Looking forward to going back.

Really remote, back of beyond, down single track roads, but so worth it. Hospitality was 10/10, such a selection of tasty cakes all served with a sliced piece of strawberry and orange, really thoughtfully presented. The decor is beautiful, as is the attention to detail in the garden too. The views are to die for and this is the perfect stop on a walk round the valley or starting point, especially for visiting the nearby kilns and remains of the iron mines, which are also spectacular. This place is also dog friendly.

I had a fabulous time here yesterday. We arrived just as they were closing after a long walk in but they happily catered for us. The orange and gooseberry cake they had baked was absolutely incredible. The sweet orange drizzle soaked the cake just the right amount so that the taste was beautifully citrussy sweet whilst the cake held its impeccable texture. The gooseberries were marvellous - sweet, tangy, and grown metres from where we were sat.

The coffee was also delicious. Wouldn't necessarily recommend the milkshake which I think was from a powder but everything else we had was sensational. The setting is great as well - Rosedale is such a moors highlight because of its remoteness away from the honeypot crowds at...
