Every time we visit a new place, we always make it a point to find the best local bakery and we certainly found it here! Danby Bakery is an absolute gem, a charming little spot with so much character, and we just loved the cozy, quaint atmosphere. It’s one of those places where you instantly feel at home, and the fact that it’s a small, local bakery makes it even more special.
We stopped by for a bite to eat, and as quite the fussy eaters, we were beyond impressed. We ordered two paninis one with ham and cheese and the other with cheese and tomato. Both were served with a side of coleslaw and a fresh salad, and let me tell you, they were some of the best paninis we’ve ever had! Perfectly toasted, the fillings were deliciously melted, and every bite was pure satisfaction.
Our son, who is also extremely fussy when it comes to food, ordered a jacket potato with cheese and beans. He loved it so much that he finished it all, which says a lot about how great the food is here! It’s not every day you see him clean his plate so happily.
To wash it all down, we ordered strawberry milkshakes, which were made with fresh ice cream so creamy and indulgent. After finishing our savory meals, we couldn’t resist trying some of the bakery’s cakes to go. We picked up a Victoria sponge, a chocolate brownie, a peanut flapjack, and a chocolate flapjack. Every single one was absolutely amazing, bursting with flavor and perfectly baked.
We loved it so much that we ended up coming back two days in a row! We also couldn’t leave without picking up some lemon curd, and I’m so glad we did. I had it for breakfast this morning, and honestly, I regret not buying more. It’s hands down the best fresh lemon curd I’ve ever tasted, and I’m completely hooked. Hats off to the bakery for that!
The staff at Danby Bakery were also fantastic so friendly, polite, and welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. It’s the definition of an amazing local bakery, where the food is fresh, delicious, and made with care. We will definitely be back next time we’re in the area, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit. Thank you, Danby Bakery, for not disappointing us in any way! You’ve earned a loyal customer...
Read moreI stayed in the West Wing cottage situated directly behind the bakery this weekend. This bakery is wonderful.
Me and my partner had a blt and a sausage sandwich.. And shared a piece of coffee and walnut cake. And 2 lattes which came to around £12 which I think is reasonable.
The quality of the sandwiches were tip top. Care had gone into the preparation. The cake was lovely and moist.
This is a very popular place as in the short time we were sat there... Several locals came in buying many things and making bread order for Christmas.
There is a small seating area. There is also a toilet. No wheelchair access unfortunately. About 3 or 4 steps to the door. Also the track upto the front can get muddy when the weather is wet.
Lovely place... Lovely food.....
Read moreWas recommended to visit by friends but think I probably chose the wrong thing to be fair. The cheese scone was so disappointing. Could not taste the cheese! If you are going to make a cheese scone then please don't be sparing with the cheese. Believe me I'm an expert, I've made hundreds of cheese scones for friends and family over the years and I say with some pride they are very good AND CHEESEY. The staff were lovely, friendly and welcoming and I bought a cheese savoury sandwich to takeaway (which I later found was lovely, plenty of cheese here). Forgive my presumption but call the scone savoury and serve with some good Wensleydale and local chutney. A Yorkshire...
