I previously gave this bakery a 5 star review. However, I popped into the bakery today and spent £14 on sandwiches and baked goods for a picnic. On biting into one of the sandwiches, I realised the bun of the sandwich was covered in mens aftershave. I returned this back to the store, and when I explained what was wrong, the girl on the counter started laughing. After informing the counter staff that this was no laughing matter, the girl apologised and proceeded to get another woman from the back of the kitchen. I explained the problem again and although apologetic, they couldn't really offer any explanation as to why the bun tasted like aftershave, other than the baker must of been wearing aftershave whilst preparing the bun. This is completely unsanitary and goes against basic procedures when working in a kitchen. As a consumer, this was obviously disgusting to ingest. I binned all of the other goods we purchased in case of contamination. I will not...

Absolutely love coming here! The staff are so lovely and welcoming, the cakes and sandwiches are amazing (I especially love the coronation chicken sandwich) the manager is so lovely, my daughter fell over and hit her head in the establishment (she gets clumsy when she runs too fast) and the manager (I forgot her name but I'm sure she's either management or actually owns it) she made sure my daughter was okay and gave her a biscuit to cheer her up, I went a few weeks later and she remembered and made sure she was okay and didn't have any bad injuries after her fall, I thought it was so lovely, place is always busy which is really good! We’ve ordered afternoon tea several times now and every time it has been absolutely delicious! Such a wide variety ranging from various sandwiches, mini quiche, pork pie, sausage rolls, cheese scones, fruit cream & jam scones, traybake, bake well tart, mini peach melba, mini strawberry tart, mini eclairs, mini custard slices, florentine, chocolate brownie etc. Slightly different each time so it’s a lovely surprise to see what’s in the box.
