Delamere Fortune Palace Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in England

Very disappointing, been coming to this place for a long, long time. I did notice a slip in standards a while ago, but just put it down to me having a bad day. However, recently we visited for my Daughter's Birthday, a very disappointing night all round. We felt we had to hurry our meal decision, as we were asked 3 times in the space of 5-7 mins. Then when we ordered, all our starters came at differing times, which meant we either ate at different times, or let our food go cold. Then the order for the main meal also came in stages. However, when we wanted a drink, it was there in 30 secs, no problem. When we were close to finishing our meal, the waitress arrived, took the unfinished plate I had in front of me, only when prompted by my Wife asking me "had I finished ?" did the waitress stop taking the plates. All in all, the atmosphere was one whereby it just all seemed "too much trouble" for the staff to serve us, a very unsatisfactory visit and not one I will be repeating in the near future, if ever again. Food used to be fresh and delicious, and the service was lovely. It's been my family's favourite Chinese restaurant for years. However, the last couple of years, we've been increasingly disappointed. Our most recent visit was a disaster. We went for a buffet. The choice of food was very limited, and the food itself was bland and textureless. The constant loud happy birthday songs and the stroppy staff ruin the atmosphere. But the worst of it came when paying the bill. The owner accidentally charged the adult price for my daughter, not a problem, I let her know and she asked me her age to check. I told her she was 10 (she is, turns 11 in couple of months). The owner then started to quiz my daughter continually. My daughter felt so uncomfortable she started hiding behind me. I had to repeatedly confirm her age, getting to the absurd situation where I almost had to shout to stop her making my daughter uncomfortable. Spent the next hour at home wondering if I should drive back with my daughter's passport. Oh, also checked my bill at home, and I was either overcharged, or, they were charging £5.60 per glass for the...

Our visit here a month ago, the food was dreadful, sweetcorn soup was like dishwater. We decided to give it one last try today, wish we hadn't.

The place today was absolutely rammed, I'm sure it's against safety standards. People walking past could hardly get past regularly getting bumped in the back, hardly a pleasant way to dine. The visit to the buffet involved a long queue, so rather than enjoying this visit, it became a chore. Then, when at the buffet, it was seldom fully stocked, resulting in bigger queues.

The staff, have an attitude issue, most of them are nothing short of rude, ignorant and abrupt. One lady had put her partly full plate to the side while she added to another, and staff removed it, saying more food will come.. I had two finished plates, the waitress took one and left the other.. just poor

This place used to be a 10/10 experience. Dining out isn't just about the food it's the whole experience.. relaxed and enjoying nice food, sadly today leaving there today was the highlight.
