Lovely little local bakery with a nice range of traditional English cakes and pies sweet and savoury along with made to order sandwiches and a variety of fresh breads. Great quality and service here. Quaint place for a little treat. Parking directly outside. But can be busy with all the other shops using the same off road parking spaces. But usually fine during before the afternoon school run time.

While the Sandwich was OK it didn't inspire me to return. At just short of £7 I had a turkey brown batch and orange juice. The batch was small and on the dry side and the filling was very tight on the portions.

Ah, the illustrious Devonshire Bakery! 🥐🥓 A place where bacon is treated like a rare gem, and the cob is so stale it could double as a doorstop. Let’s dive into this culinary adventure, shall we.

The Bacon Sandwich: A Tragic Tale of Two Raisins

Picture this: You walk into the Devonshire Bakery, your wallet trembling in fear. You order the bacon sandwich, hoping for a life-changing experience. Instead, you get two measly raisins of bacon. Yes, raisins. Because apparently, that’s what passes for bacon these days. 🥓

The cob? Ah, the cob. It’s like they found it in the back of a time-traveling DeLorean, circa 1985. Stale, crumbly, and probably older than your grandma’s knitting needles. But hey, at least it won’t break your teeth – it’s already halfway to becoming breadcrumbs. 🥪

The Latte: A Liquid Gold Heist

You fork over four quid for a latte, expecting a cup of caffeinated magic. Instead, you get a thimble-sized portion. It’s like they brewed it with a single coffee bean and a tear from a unicorn. But fear not! The latte art is impeccable – a microscopic heart that whispers, “I’m sorry for your wallet.” ☕

Service: The Art of Nonchalance

The staff at Devonshire Bakery have mastered the art of indifference. They serve your sandwich like they’re presenting the Crown Jewels – with solemn reverence and zero eye contact. If you dare complain, they’ll raise an eyebrow and say, “Sir, our raisin-to-bacon ratio is internationally acclaimed.” 🙄

Ambiance: A Time Capsule of Regret

Step inside, and you’re transported to a parallel universe where taste buds don’t exist. The decor? A mishmash of faded wallpaper, antique doilies, and a framed portrait of the original raisin. The air smells of nostalgia and missed opportunities. It’s like eating in your grandma’s attic, minus the charm. 🕰️

Verdict:

Devonshire Bakery – where dreams of bacon abundance collide with the reality of raisins. If you’re feeling adventurous, try their “Vintage Cob Surprise” – it’s like Russian roulette, but with carbs. And remember, politeness costs nothing, but that sandwich? It cost you nearly five quid. Shocking indeed. 🤷‍♂️

Disclaimer: No raisins were harmed in the making of...

Was working in the area and decided to get myself and my colleague a breakfast to start the day with a coffee each. I proceeded to order 2 x breakfasts and 2 x coffee's. I was so shocked and taken aback to be told a price of wait for it

£27

Yes that's right

£27

There were customers in the shop and through embarrassment I actually paid .

Waited ages for the food to be cooked on little grills/ hotplates and microwave. I would not recommend buying a breakfast.

I'm sure the other items in the store are of quality but the breakfast was...
