They kindly accommodated the three of us an hour before the time, I recommend you ring in advance for availability. It was packed even at half past five Friday. Despite the fact my husband wasn't eating (apparently) he dug into the sharing platter. The lamb kofte on it was fairly good (spicy...) calamari (lovely tempura type batter, small rings though,) tasty halloumi and chorizo kebabs (overcooked unfortunately.) Again the chorizo was on the spicy side for me even thugh I have some tolerance. The pitta wasn't bought in: appreciated, not claggy or hard. Decent falafel. The dips such as the usual yoghurt with mint (like tsatziki or raita) included the lemony avocado one somewhat sweet hummus, which I thought was pea, alongside mojo rojo mini bowl were all flavoursome. Bigger pots please as they were moreish, even if priced slightly more expensively. I enjoyed those more than anything I think, equally finding the grated carrot and chickpea garnish welcome. One lemon wedge not enough for more than one person with the platter, we love the juice on prawns also. Gambas al pil pil highly disappointing, ordered twelve unfortunately. They were all right, tiny though which we weren't expecting; again, easy to overcook which they were. What a waste of money. Lacking in seasoning as well. Then again we are used to Spain for almost forty years including Menorca alongside, seemingly, almost a lifetime cooking. Please provide king size prawns in olive oil in a slightly lesser amount maybe. Optional fresh coriander would have been fabulous. Decent bread: I mopped up some of oil with difficulty however as it was over toasted with burnt edges. Soft is more absorbant naturally, we would have liked some balsamic also to mix with the cooking oil, I don't know if you can request vinegar yourself. I was offered a choice of only three draught lagers (is this is usual?) refreshing Estrella happily however so I downed a couple. The smart thing to go for on a fish Friday in my opinion is...the fish. Haddock would be most welcome as an option. Prepared tartare sauce please if there isn't any. The cod smelled so fresh at the next table outside I was cross with myself for having let my husband take charge of the order. Fairly quick service, only two dishes having said that. The drinks arrived fairly quickly. Staff polite and friendly. We went to sample this place, it is our local which is easily reached on foot. Note not far from the Trans Pennine. We have had far better meals at La Tasca Liverpool (unfortunately having changed hands not so far back.) I had read such glowing reports about the Stockton Heath arm of it: in harsh reality we were all bitterly disappointed. The reviews had raved about the portions, vast. Nothing like that in Lymm unless it wasn't representative due to it being a Friday. Good atmosphere, comfortable to sit. The beer garden always was welcome even if at the side fairly near the busy road and not the most spacious compared with some I know. We were pressed rather for drinks, not great if you do not swill it; not ignored on the other hand. Sorry not to be more positive and constructive. Very pricy for what we consumed, Our daughter was worried about ordering more dishes which such a shame as it was a very special family celebration. We returned, after coffees an hour later finished off several Chinese dishes (takeway) as we were famished, around ten items costing under ÂŁ45 with top class ingredients. There is plenty leftover too. They can provide terrific value for money, albeit with less overheads. We have found some of the items at least as good in pub chains (damning I am aware) at far cheaper midweek. It could be infinitely improved, we want to like this...
Read moreShocking customer service from an average chain restaurant.
Chain restaurants⊠you can always tell when the staff arenât invested in the business. They just donât care.
Made an online booking on a lovely sunny Friday evening, walked down with the family as we live locally, and brought the dog.
They greeted me with â weâll need the table back by 8pmâ, which was rude but I let it slide. Tried to insist we sit inside. Told them not to worry about keeping the table inside because we have the dog and want to sit outside. Their response was âwell thatâs me told then isnât itâ? How childish and unprofessional.
They were serving outside but decided to stop at 6pm so as not too overload the kitchen which I get. But, we already had a reservation so that doesnât apply.
I offered to come inside to order, to receive the food to the inside table and the carry it out, but no attempt to meet us half way, just intent on doing whatever suited them.
No apology, no attempt to accommodate us, and when I complained to the manager she told me I was âabrasiveâ and she wasnât going to serve us. She was on a power trip. Itâs petty, unprofessional and typical of this place.
If you want the business, just plan for good weather and staff accordingly. Otherwise tell people when they book you wonât be serving food outside- one or the other.
Awful service, mediocre food, but typical of chain restaurants these days.
The staff here really need to be given customer service training because the...
Read moreThe service was quite poor throughout. Weâd been there well over half an hour before we got any starters, and then waited another hour and a half for mains. I had to get up and make sure they werenât waiting for my children to finish their meals (which had been brought out with the starters) before they brought any mains which they said they werenât, I also had to go and ask if we could have more drinks as no one had been to ask us. When our mains arrived 4 out of the 5 Sunday roasts had very raw parsnips on, we asked if we could have some more well cooked ones but we got a small dish of still very raw but obviously blasted in the microwave for 30 seconds. So we decided against ordering any more. The beed states on the menu that itâs served pink but all 3 of the beef plates were well done. My dad had even asked if he could have his more on the rare side but none of them were even slightly pink. We had 2 young children with us so it made it difficult to eat once the food actually arrived. We ordered pudding before weâd finished our mains in hope they wouldnât take as long and to be fair they didnât and the puddings were nice. I feel that as much as I understand a busy kitchen, the restaurant wasnât even full, there was staff stood around the serving hatch and not once did anyone come to say anything. I donât think we will be...
