I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Ellerton Cafe and Farm Shop, and I must say, it was an absolute delight. From the moment I stepped foot into the restaurant, I was greeted with warm smiles and excellent service. General Manager Simon and Assistant Manager Alice went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was exceptional.
The atmosphere at the Ellerton Cafe and Farm Shop is cozy and inviting, with rustic decor that perfectly complements the farm-to-table concept. The restaurant is nestled in a picturesque countryside setting, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding fields and farms. It truly provides a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Now, let's talk about the food. The menu at the Ellerton Cafe and Farm Shop features a fantastic selection of dishes made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. I opted for the roasted vegetable and feta tart, and it was an absolute culinary masterpiece. The flavors were vibrant, and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. Each bite was a delightful explosion of taste.
The service provided by General Manager Simon and Assistant Manager Alice was truly exceptional. They were attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. They took the time to explain the dishes and make recommendations based on my preferences. Their passion for food and commitment to providing an outstanding dining experience were evident throughout my visit.
In addition to the excellent service, I was also impressed by the attention to detail at the Ellerton Cafe and Farm Shop. The presentation of the food was exquisite, and every dish was a work of art. It was evident that the kitchen staff takes great pride in their creations, and it truly elevated the overall dining experience.
Furthermore, the cafe doubles as a farm shop, offering a variety of locally produced goods. It's a great opportunity to take home some of the amazing flavors you experienced during your meal. From fresh fruits and vegetables to homemade jams and artisanal cheeses, the farm shop provides a wonderful selection of products that showcase the best of the region.
Overall, my experience at the Ellerton Cafe and Farm Shop was nothing short of exceptional. The combination of excellent service from General Manager Simon and Assistant Manager Alice, delicious farm-to-table cuisine, and the charming countryside setting made for a truly memorable visit. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a culinary adventure that celebrates local flavors and warm...
Read moreA large group of 17 social riders today so a stop off at the Ellerton Lakeside Cafe but a caveat that there's a SPECIALS BOARD with 'Any coffe & scone for (just!?) £6.50' (or any coffee & a (very small!) mince pie for £4.95). It seems unless you say you're ordering from the specials board option you'll be charged more (around £7.50 as the price seemed to 'vary' and with one of the group about to be charged £17.50 until it was pointed out and then given just £10 change, hmmm?!!). This is a 'sharp' and dubious practice and not what you'd expect, be warned, so if you order a scone and coffee here make sure you say it's from the specials board option (my Yorkshireman's tip of the day, ha!). Otherwise there's extended seating now available at the cafe which is good and it's clean and pleasant enough. Service can be on the slow side though not an issue if there's no rush but we found what was ordered was just left on one table and we had to retrieve what we'd ordered from there from the various other tables we were sat at, hmm!? Not everything we ordered turned up thus had to be chased too. I get the impression cyclists aren't particularly welcome (though we are well behaved, respectful and polite), the blue rinse and pensioned set being perhaps the unquestioning customer of choice, despite the fact that this used to be a popular destination for many cycling groups (until they started charging a frankly ridiculous £8.45 for a coffee and a scone when the par elsewhere is around a fiver or less!). This isn't a cheap cafe by any means and perhaps it's intended to be so, to cover 'extensive' overheads and achieve profit margins, but by not offering good value food and drinks they limit their customer base and its not a cafe I'll be rushing back to as will many other cyclist's which is a very common view now and perhaps that's the cafe's objective alas,...
Read moreI have a food intolerance to gluten. I ordered a Gluten Free sausage and bacon sandwich on Tuesday October 10th. I was starving as it was lunch time and i dont eat breakfast. Within 20 minutes I knew it had gluten in it (either the sausage or bread) or there was some serious cross contamination somewhere ...and I spent the next 3 days doubled up with stomach cramps and nausea. Worse than that I approached Ellerton via a private message on the 11th to detail the full scenario of what had happened. I was trying to help them do a better job in the future because 2 items on that plate had gluten on. You see the sausage and bacon gf sandwich comes with coleslaw and crisps too. I spotted that the crisps were 'walkers' crisps and i very discreetly went to the till and talked to the person serving on before i ate anything. They said walkers crisps are gluten free (they're not so i didnt touch them) and spoke with chef and they assured me the rest of my plate was gluten free. Well it wasn't. Like i say either the bread or sausage or serious cross contamintion somewhere. So I sent my message to them and guess what. No apology. No acknowledgment. They just flat out ignored me. That's a very poor show indeed. Also as a small aside, the person serving on commented that every manufacturer packet says "may contain gluten." Thats absolute tosh. The gluten free products don't say that. That's the point. They're either free of gluten or they're not. A "may contain gluten" means they might be cross contaminated at the manufacturing site by other products that do contain gluten, or equipment that has being in contact with gluten containing products and therefore they are not gluten free. If you want further information please go and look at your private Facebook message again....
