5 of us went on a Tuesday night for the quiz. The quiz was great. Liked the format and the way is was run. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the food we had. It was awful. I got the mixed grill. Ended up leaving a lot of it. The chicken, to me, didn’t appear to have been fully cooked. After one bite I left it. The sausages were tough. The skins rock hard. Probably left under the heat and had dried out. Chips were cold and frozen, not fresh. Wasn’t keen on the gammon either. Even the pineapple was terrible. Very warm and dry. Again like it had been left under the grill or heat lamp. The egg was pretty good and hot so probably had been freshly cooked. And the rump steak wasn’t that bad. Cooked medium rare as ordered and one of the few things on the plate I finished. My fellow diners had issues with their meals as well. As for the service one of my colleagues waited best part of an hour for her meal. Another ordered ice cream for dessert and had to go twice to the bar to chase it up as it took so long to be served. For ice cream? And God knows what they clean their tables with. You couldn’t put your hands or elbows on them as they would have stuck. Since Covid I always carry wipes with me. A table had been booked beforehand but the first table we were shown to was totally unsuitable for a party of five. I noticed it was wet. It had been wiped down. Wiped down but certainly not cleaned as I went over and my wipe and dry tissue were filthy. We moved tables to be nearer to the guy running the quiz and this table was also so sticky. I’ve eaten at Hungry Horse venues before. I’ve eaten here before. But this venue seems to have gone considerably downhill. You don’t go to a Hungry Horse pub expecting fabulous cuisine. But you do expect and should get reasonably decent food at an affordable price. However, the food on this visit was awful. We would probably go to the quiz again. We enjoyed that but I will definitely not be eating here again if and when we return.

When here to stay in the hotel. Absolutely awful! Room was so dirty and dusty I was ill the whole time sneezing and blocked up. I had to take antihistamines to survive the night. The whole place was falling apart! The room window wouldn’t shut, the bathroom was mouldy, 2 single bed not attached to each other passed off as a double. The woman at the desk was so rude, no idea why she works there because she clearly lack all customer service skills, nor did she even seem to want to be there. The ‘food can be ordered to your room’ is a lie, the rude woman didn’t have any idea what she was saying or doing. Highly recommend a job not involving customers for you. Then again, I’d not wanna work In Such conditions either. The stench of the place burnt my nose hairs! I had to buy air fresheners to get through the time there. Plug sockets off the wall, spiders everywhere, tap broken and leaking constantly, toilet wouldn’t flush, and I have ibs so good luck with it after I left. We had some food at the restaurant, the coke and Fanta had no fizz but apparently soda was fine. Food was standard but the restaurant was falling apart, roof caving in. Also parking is that bad we watched some guy take out a brand new car by hitting all the side of it. Do no recommend ever.

Meh. Been here a few times. Used to be good typical pub food but the last few times have been terrible. I try to give places a few chances but definitely wouldn't go back. The staff are great gotta give that. Very friendly and welcoming but the food is a no. It's quite expensive for what it is, they seem to have taken off the drink with the kids menu so this has to be bought seperate which makes it expensive for what you get. Ordered chicken, chips and corn on the cob, no corn fair enough. When it arrived the chicken was so over cooked I don't even think an older child could've got through it never mind a toddler, I don't understand why they would send it out the kitchen like that it was also piping hot, way too hot to eat even the plate couldn't be held with your hand. So dry and chewy even I couldn't eat it. Then on the other side my mum ordered a chicken kebab and her chicken was slimy and slightly undercooked. Id say better food is definitely needed here. Even the chips were cold and stale đŸ€·. Hoping the food improves as this was one of our go to places.

Very disappointing meal out. Almost every item we tried to order was not available as per usual and the lady serving us made a comment that if the next item is out of stock then we should just order a salad instead. The area stinks like urine and was told by the staff “yes it’s the men’s toilet” so it’s a known issue they choose not to fix. We had the pleasure of sitting next to a group of very clearly intoxicated individuals that were using very vulgar language in the area for families when we had young children present, getting scared as the men were shouting at the top of their lungs. I understand this is not the fault of the company however you would think the staff may of been helpful and asked them to quiet down. We then had to wait about 45 mins for just cutlery which we ended up having to go ask for and then a further 10 mins for the food. This is understandable on a busy bank holiday however the place was the emptiest I’ve ever seen it so was very confused about this. We ordered two lots of fries with one meal and only received one and when we queried this with the staff we was given a very dismissive and defensive answer. All in all a very poor experience and honestly not the only bad time we have had at this place. We only came back when they brought in a new menu and staff as we thought it would of improved but clearly they only pick and choose when they would like to be a respectable business. Will not be coming again and will drive the extra miles to find another place to enjoy instead. Please keep your money and spend it elsewhere honestly....

Arrived on a Wednesday evening about 6pm and dumped our bags in our room and went for food. Chicken and bacon toasted wrap was minus the bacon but had hot soggy lettuce on it - no flavour and stringy dry chicken. My Southern fried chicken goujons on a toasted wrap was the same. Asked for a bowl of fries between us to share but they were on a plate with the chicken and no bacon wrap. Again, very dry chicken and no flavour. Mocktales were ok. Stayed with daughter in law for 1 night in a twin room. Room was ok but there was a loud buzzing from the bathroom we couldnt stop (not the bathroom extractor fan - Im not that stupid) and the toilet wouldnt flush. Very helpful staff member said she would change rooms for us. No twin room available but offered us 2 seperate double rooms with no additional cost. Didnt want that as I dont see family much. She separated a double bed for us so made us a twin room. But we couldnt get the shower to give out hot water. Same shower I have at home so I knew what I was doing. Had a luke warm shower but that we ok as it was hot. Breakfast was very good. All the staff we spoke to were amazing, but behind the bar clearly understaffed. Needs an update, just a lick of paint and damaged walls plastering and repainting. And my bugbear, poorly finished sealant round the bath and shower that had gone black. As always, very quiet rooms with no disturbances and a good nights sleep. Been staying here for around 10 years and its nowhere near as good as it was at the start of our visits, but I dont think we will stay there again, unless its...
