I hadn't been in here for 35 years and the transformation is amazing. We went with 2 friends. Our church joined us. They don't usually serve food on a Monday but made an exception. Anything on the special menu £7.95. I ordered chicken bites with chips and peas, pure chicken breast in a batter, (chicken nuggets). I couldn't eat it all. Was fantastic. Hubby ordered the burger and our friends ordered the giant Yorkshire pud filled with mince and scampi. Everything was well presented and there were no complaints. 2 of us then had sticky toffee pudding with custard. This was so light and delicious. Staff were so friendly. Our vicar even played the piano. We will be going back regularly

This is a pub I like, first called in a long time ago, the lady that had it then her daughter was training to be a nurse, some of the locals will remember. Only call in every 5 or 6yrs but it has changed very little, still a bar with a welcoming feeling about it and sitting listening to the locals telling their stories is entertaining. On the edge of the village so outsiders drive in drive out but if you arrive at the right time worth it.

Classically British, cosy and inviting -

Amongst the growing rampant desire for places wishing to be al la carte, gourmet and above all else a hipster knock off of the latest TV chef trends, this facility brings a surprisingly refreshing and warm reunion to classical environment that many British people were custom to growing up with.

the decor feels inviting and exciting, with throwbacks to the old times by showcasing photographs of the local community and area dating back from the 60s onward to present and designed to refine the classical feel of a British pub, sturdy, strong and warm, it gave off 2 feelings upon entering, reminding me of being a child on my first Saturday outing with the grandparents, or that sense of relief when your abroad and finally come across a familiar presence of British hospitality.

The staff couldn't make you feel anymore welcome, and i mean not just as in staff meets customer, i mean to the extent that upon walking in, within a few moments you felt like a regular and were treated to nothing less than the kindness family member's show one another.

to top this off, the food was something that sparked a refreshing change to the hipster redesigned dishes, this wonderful place not only makes you feel at home, but the food is also that of a homely manner, something that took me back to grandmas cooking after school, simply happy, warm and bountiful amount that always satisfied greatly, it truly does refine classic British pub dining to a fine T.

you would be a fool not to try this place, it makes for a great change to what is now the usual, a place that sets itself back to the basics, and with that they've refined it to make...

Had Sunday dinner at the Forresters today, nice little welcoming village pub. Service was good, very accommodating and pleasant. The meal its self was well presented consisting of mashed potato, roast potatoes, four vegetables, a yorkshire pudding, three slices of beef or lamb and a tasty gravy. The couple on the table opposite had chicken and that looked very nice too. However our lamb and beef had been carved/cut against the grain, therefore making the meat hard to cut and chew.I've found this case in a few places, they cut the meat to look like a good portion/ slice but you have difficulty chewing it, cut with the grain, the slices are smaller but the meat is tender. Having said that we will be back... but we may be having the chicken...and a...
