We visited Foxes this morning, arrived at approximately 11.40am. spent ten minutes trying to find a parking space. cafe was extremely busy, luckily we bumped into some friends who let us share their table. We ordered at 11.55am and were told there would be a wait, although not told how long we would have to wait. Our drinks arrived within about 10 minutes, my latte came in a glass mug which had dirty marks on the side. I brought this to the owners attention and her response was "it's a mark from the coffee machine " when I asked her to put my latte in an ordinary cup or mug, the managers response was " it's not a plastic mug " I explained I knew this and simply wanted a clean cup. At 12.45pm when our food had still not arrived I.asked how long it would be. The staff member a young girl did not know. The same staff member had already told me she wasnt meant to be working, she was just helping the owner her mother in law out. Two tables arrived approximately 20 minutes after us and were served with the same breakfast before us. Our food arrived shortly after, however, one order the medium breakfast arrived without the toast it should have had with it. We asked twice for the toast which finally arrived. Another meal was served on a plate so hot my friend had blisters on her hand from touching it. Due to the staff not putting the plate on the table. We had to ask twice for cutlery which should have been on the table The owner asked my friend if she wanted something to put on her hand then kept coming back to the table to see how we were. The food was nothing special scrambled egg was very dry. Mushrooms which they said were grilled were ok to eat but looked most unappealing. My poached eggs were overcooked and hard. When we went to pay the owner didn't charge for the latte or the scrambled egg , due to latte being in a dirty cup and scrambled egg being on a plate so hot it burned my friend when she touched it. However, this didn't make up for the poor service, the bad attitude of the owner and the total lack of organisation. I would not recommend this cafe to anyone. We could not understand how such a simple menu could be so difficult to prepare in a timely manner. Do not waste your time or...
Read moreHave eaten here quite a few times now while family have been staying at Oakwood. The food is slightly higher priced than other places in the area but the quality food when it arrives easily reflects price. I love black pudding and 9 out of 10 times always disappointed with what comes on the plate, but Foxes serves what is now my favourite black pudding. I only gave 4 stars because the only down side is lack of a good extractor system and can leave smelling of cafe which isn't good when going...
Read moreJust discovered this tea room and what a great find. I had eggs Benedict, really tasty. The eggs were poached to perfection and the Hollandaise was creamy and lemony. My companion had the medium sized full English, she said it was tasty and so big that she couldn't finish it all.
The staff are exceptionally pleasant and very efficient. The tea room has a lovely ambience and is in nice surroundings. Definitely...
