And here last Saturday as 2 couples (our close friends) as thought we'd try somewhere new around Cayton bay area. Well the food was outstanding I have to say. Huge portions, nicely cooked. Service though, once we were seated was slow, in fact that slow 2 of us went to the bar which was small and mobbed with just ONE bar girl trying to take people's food money and serve an ever increasing amount of drinkers. It took a while but we got our drinks, 2 beers and 2 cocktails for a reasonable price, under 25 quid. Eventually our meal order got taken by a less than happy waitress and it arrived reasonably quick. 2 starters and 4 mains came in at a shade under sixty quid so very good value. Then our problem. Trying to pay. We had to wait 20 minutes at the bar waiting to pay. It was mobbed and the girl couldn't keep up. In the end when she asked who's next I shouted I'd before we walk out'. You must loose so much money with people walking out. We all have decided not to return based on this and you are lucky for 4 stars as it's food only based. You should have people pay the food bill at order time and get extra bar staff specially for the weekend. People were getting angry. Food 10 out of 10, service (based on Sat night) 1.

It's the fist time today ,Sunday 17th February 2019(5.45pm), that my husband and I have visited the foxhounds for a few years.. We were not disappointed but were very impressed.. WOW what a difference, the place looks since last time. So tasteful and modern... the place was packed....which is always a good sign. We hadn't booked a table (though reconmended) however , this wasn't a problem, we were told we would get a table in about half an hour if we wanted to wait... which we were happy to do.. we had a drink at the bar and looked at the menu (which had so much to choose from)we waited less than half an hour before the waitress showed us to our table... I chose a regular size mixed meat traditional roast dinner. £9.95. My husband chose the 12oz sirloin steak meal. £16.95. The meals were soon served and there was certainly plenty of food on the plates.. all fully fresh produce... presented nicely, and was very flavoursome . All the staff were professional, polite, tidy, tentative and smiley.. (which is always nice to See. We fully recommended the Foxhound inn at Flixton, and look forward to visiting again soon. Well done to all that work at the Foxhound inn, your an absolute credit to the place. Xx 👍💕🍽

Some of the tastiest food in one of the worst places I've visited! Alcohol leads you to be less fussy when it comes to your chosen venue for food. After driving past and seeing the car park as particularly busy and having received a recommendation from a local, we decided that Foxhound Inn would be an ideal place for evening food. Having ordered and paid for our food, we waited in anticipation whilst battling a fly hovering our table. Having defeated it, our food arrived which was incredibly tasty. However, we competed for it with yet another fly! We decided to take our food to another table, but was greeted with the same level of competition with our fly's multiple friends. Having visited the bathroom on our escape - sorry, I meant exit - we found the reason for the flies. On further investigation, we found flies everywhere! Around the bar, in each dining room and in both the ladies' and the gents'! Having known this, we obviously wouldn't have eaten here. But without being facetious, the food was genuinely beautiful! The service? Well, it was service without a smile.

what a mess. having visited before under different management I was looking forward to my trip. When I arrived I entered and the sign said wait here to be seated, so i did, numerous staff went by and ignored me, so looked through the different doors and through one there was another sign of wait here to be seated. here i eventually was seated. Why none of the staff which ignored me could not have said you are in the wrong place. I could have overlooked this if the rest of the trip went well but it did not. Once at the table I was told the only place to order drinks was the bar and the only place to order food was the table and someone would come round to take my order. Strange that it has to be segregated, can staff not take an order for both? Also there is a minimum charge for a card payment so should your drink be less than this it cant be added to the cost of your meal no you have to get something else or try to find enough cash. Most places will take your full order and payment then deliver it all to your table. After ordering the food came in a moderate time, I had a Giant Yorkshire pudding with Meat, Roast potatoes and peas. The meat and Yorkshire pudding were gorgeous however the potatoes and peas were very dry as though they had been cooked too long While checking the receipt I noticed I had been overcharged for a side, to check after my meal i went to where the menus were and checked the price and i was correct. i mentioned this to a member of staff and in a very dismissive manner he just said yes the menu is wrong, the correct price is what I paid. Given most people will look at the menu for the price to work out what they would have this is a very dirty trick to get more money from people, and deserves looking at by the fraud squad. If the menu is wrong then get it changed or at least tell the customer. I visited the loo before leaving and the facilities, these are very dated and in need of a renovation. Despite going to the loo i only just made it home (15 mins) and had to dash to the loo where I had to stay for half an hour. I would not visit again if they paid me, and i advice you don't either. I would rather go hungry than...

Why this business does not take the time to look after customers surprises me. They could not be bothered to set up the discount offered by the government because the admin was too Difficult for them Manage. Smaller less busy eateries are doing this. Foxhounds think they don’t need to do it because their business is special and does not need to look after customers. Well, you do if you want to keep your customers because we 15 will not be coming again and we are all locals. Firstly the covid set up was rediculously overdone. No one at the door to tell you want to do. Food was poor. Chicken garlic sauce was basically cream, no flavour. Microwaved pizza for kids. Chips looked as though been left on side for some time then reheated. Waitress taking drinks order was rude, to the extent of her staring you out when trying to make a decision what drink to choose. Very impatient and snappy. Did not know if there was hand pulled beer available. Had to pay for meal before being served the meal very rude process. Probably because the food was poor and they could not be bothered to ask if the meal was ok after delivery to table. Forgot drink even though it was on the bill. Rules ridiculous scoring your own plates into buckets and trays from table before the ?wairess took it away. Knives and forks delivered to wrong table. Toilet smelt terrible. Overall a poor experience and had to pay full price because the lazy owners said they could not manage the admin side of helping customers to get back into going out again during corona virus. Food waitress was very friendly and actually stopped me from leaving with my family, well done you for your pleasant manner. Felt like a unwanted customer and will never be eating here again. Good job we are a seasonal town and you have holiday makers to fill your tables in summer who then will not keep you going in winter. Poor place not like it used to be. Poor food and some of staff need educating in what waiting on is all about looking after...

AVOID if you have a nut or peanut allergy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I visited with my family this evening for a birthday meal. It was busy, which was understandable. I asked at the bar for the allergy matrix to read before placing the order. They told me the allergens are on the menu...they're definitely not!!!! Alarm bells!!! They then told me to order what I wanted and they would let the kitchen know. I said please just let me know if there are any issues sooner rather than later.

We waited in total approx. an hour and a half for a table and food. I assumed all must be fine as so much time had passed. A waitress (absolutely not her issue but the bearer of bad news) came to tell me, just as everyone's orders were ready to come out, that the kitchen said I can't have the chips or onion rings because they cook hazelnut churros in the same fryer.

Who cooks nuts in the same fryer as something that comes with most meals?!

I also made it clear I'm not allergic to nuts, just peanuts, and the kitchen refused still because they use hazelnut. I CAN eat hazelnut.

I was given the option of new potatoes or a jacket potato. I chose jacket potato, but of course this wasn't the ideal option. It's not exactly homemade chips, is it. No replacement for the onion rings offered.

No reimbursement offered either for the lack of onion rings and chips. I ended up with half a meal.

Poor service and staff need more training all round. Peanuts and nuts are SEPARATE allergens out of the 14 main allergens. And people should not be being told that allergens are listed on a menu when they're not. Allergy information is a LEGAL REQUIREMENT and customers should be able to READ IT. Some are allergic to both, some are allergic to just one. The waitress was not to blame here, however.

This experience completely ruined my evening. I am so disappointed and frustrated.

If you choose to go and have a nut or peanut allergy, be prepared to have a very limited choice of options and no chips.

Never, ever again. You...
