My main issue with this place is knowing what to choose! I consider myself somewhat a connoisseur of takeaways, particularly when I comes to kebabs and pizzas, and this place leaves me with major fomo when I'm ordering. Sometimes it's a chip butty with gravy on an afternoon when doing school pickup, that's usually the easiest choice, but I wouldn't rule out sausage, chips and curry sauce which is equally satiating. Then there's the 'evening' menu... I find it easier when it's just me and the better half, but when the family is involved I find myself absolutely torn between the pizza option of the kebab wrap that I know my son will inevitably be enjoying and that's all before adding the legendary chipizza into the mix! Classic chip-shop chips and associated gravy & curry... Yes, with the bits in and everything! The pizzas are as good as any takeaway, the pizza sauce is devine and they're always perfectly cooked... Anyone ever thought of adding garlic to a classic* pepperoni pizza? Unreal! *I'm one of those that considers pepperoni the 4th ingredient in a pizza after the base, sauce and cheese, but hey, after 40 years of eating them, what do I know? The wraps are to die for! The meat is cooked well which, is often overlooked in a kebab. Whatever shave of the elephant's leg next will do in some places, but not this one! Salad is always perfectly fresh and the sauces, don't even get me started... They need a review of their own, however neither I, nor you have the time for that; that being said, I must take a moment to discuss the garlic... Not a modern take on garlic that is clearly mayo-heavy, but this one takes me back to my childhood favourite, Fred's Pizza in the West End of Newcastle where the garlic was a true 'sauce' with a consistency that can be poured and it has those little shavings of garlic in it which explain that fire you get after you have a good glug... So strong, so tasty! Can't decide between chips and pizza? They've got you covered! Choose your favourite pizza toppings - ahem, not forgotting the afforementioned pepperoni of course - and lob it in top of the classic chips I mentioned earlier, cover with kebab meat and cheese and pass it through the grill... What's not to love?!?! This is one of the all-time takeaways that even after years of going there still keeps you wondering what you'll order next. P.s. to those lucky people that have tried the ever-elusive corned beef patty, I've not had the pleasure, as you need to get into there early to order one, but I await the day that my tastebuds get to delight in this mystical savoury delight... I will report back! Yours faithfully, A true fan of...
Read moreWould have been zero star, we decided to try, for a change. Wish we hadnât. Ordered chips n gravy a chip butty and fish bites. The food was disgusting, fish dark brown obviously refried, almost burnt, the chips showed signs of dirty oil, you could see the oil was dirty, n the chips and gravy tasted sour. Complained and they apologised and sent a replacement which was as bad as the first. Just vile. All food thrown in bin. Will never use again and advise everyone to avoid like the plague! Horrendous. Worst food Iâve had from anywhere ever. And we eat out and dine everywhere so...
Read moreTried for the first and last time ! The chips were inedible. Full of black bits and the ones that werenât were brown all the way through and tasted off. Clearly bad potatoes. Fish was almost as thin as a piece of A4 however the batter was nice. Jumbo sausage was nice. Corned beef patty contained about 1% corned beef. More like fried mashed potato. They donât take card and the shop front outside was littered with bits of broken glass. He had already wrapped up the food without asking if we wanted salt and vinegar. Clearly no pride taken in what they serve...
