Came here end of May food was amazing 10/10 so had family visiting today thought it’s worth travelling from Carlisle for great food how wrong I was!! 4 adults 2 children. 3 out of 4 meals came with chips rock hard burnt you couldn’t cut them!! Side of onion rings greasy with raw thick uncooked onion inside. Salad was lovely huge and presented well. Kids meal ok fine for a child’s meal and what you pay.

When I said chips were awful the waitress said it’s a bad batch of potato’s we can bring fries 🍟waiting on them the other food was going cold no offer to replace meals just replace chips to fries. Why were you still serving them if you knew they were substandard?? Asked for manager twice (she was busy, too busy cooking to come out)

Eventually they removed the cost of 3 meals, when they seen how much food was sent back. 20 mins after finishing manager??? Well she claimed to be came over to say I was busy sorry I said your lovely staff have sorted it without you after asking to see you twice.

So going from a 10/10 to a 2/10 no offer or any apology from manager yet we spent a lot on drinks etc such a shame as this place was lovely

Waitressing staff lovely and still gave them a tip as to be honest they looked embarrassed at the state of the food we were served. After tonight I advise avoid at...

We were staying at local campsite so decided to call in hoping to get some food. We werent disappointed, what a lovely friendly place. The food choice was great and the portions too big for me but the husband had a good go. The food is just good wholesome, homecookes food which you cannot fault. The owners are so friendly and even to the point I left my very expensive jacket on the first night and when we returned for more food on the second night, it had been put to one side and when we entered, the dark haired lady asked me if it was mine. That to me says how lovelt they are and honest. The second night we even joined in the local pub quiz and were made to feel welcome by the locals. This is a truely lovely pub and we will return when staying up the road. Just really nice food and atmosphere. Even the young waitress was...

The staff struggled to understand our food order and even got the table number wrong. Another lady ordering food had to tell the staff member our table number. When the other ladies food came out before us we waited 5mins then asked the staff where our order was. Apparently it was forgotten and we then went to the back of the queue. At no point did anyone offer us any nibbles or a free drink because of their mistake. When the food finally arrived it was not good. The nut roast was not edible it was rock hard from. The bottom of the pan. The vegetable curry was just a sauce with the vegatables thrown in with no flavour. The 2 burgers had rock hard burnt sweet potato fries. We eventually got free drinks only because we asked. Not going...

Very poor food. Family meal with my wife and our two daughters (aged 11 & 13). Chicken curry had a really unpleasant flavour, which I’d never previously experienced with a curry. The accompanying nans were ‘microwaved up’ little circles, which were tough and cold in the middle. Most of the chips were chewy and a bit leather-like. The pizzas (x3) were clearly from frozen bases (thick ones). Nobody enjoyed them. When collecting our near-full plates, I let the waitress (who was very nice) know that the food had been very poor. She spoke to the manager and we were given a 20% discount, which I thought was quite measly in the circumstances. Shame as we planned to visit the place a few times during our holiday. Sadly, we absolutely won’t be back .

Great Little pub, just stumbled upon it on way back to hotel. Not busy when me & my wife called in at 1500 on a wednesday. I had the bbq wing starter & my wife had the leak & potato soup which I forgot to take photos of, but both were absolutely lovely, the wings were the best I have ever had. As for the mains homemade steak & ale pie which was beautiful and very filling, there was that much I couldn't eat it all. My wife had the 1/2 Sunday dinner and said it was also beautiful. This place is a little diamond. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Will miss this place when I go back home.

Absolutely lovely. We have driven past this place countless times but decided to drop in with my family. Had a beautiful cooked rump steak (rare, best way to have steak!) and the steak pie with two of the kids choice meals which were great portion sizes! The staff were really lovely, the place is pristine so kudos to whoever does the cleaning and the atmosphere is great. Definitely will return!
