We stayed in cottages 1 + 2 for 3 nights mid week as we were part of the main wedding party. First impressions was that they were both very modern and looked great. Well kitted out rooms, comfortable bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin room and pull out settee, in cottage 1), 1 double and 1 pull out settee in cottage 2. So uncomfortable. The weather was beautiful and using the hot tub was great, Issues started when we discovered there was no air conditioning, we were informed that there were fans in the cottages but there was only 1 in cottage 2, the heating was not adjustable. Floors needed dusting with floor wipes and no lock on bathroom door. Windows only opened out slightly so not much air could circulate. Outside furniture could do with replacing or perhaps just the cushions. Anyway, there does need to be locks on the external gates as anyone can walk into the courtyard if they wanted to ( as did the owner one evening into courtyard 2, he only had to ask if it was OK. I mean there could have been people in the hot tub or sunbathing).|The day after the wedding all 12 of us attended the restaurant for breakfast at £15.99 per head for a 'traditional English breakfast' which consisted of 6 items. 1 sausage, 2 rashers of bacon 4 mushrooms ( if you were lucky), black pudding a fried egg and a grilled tomato. So the waitress took orders, some chose to change some items for beans ( I've never known a traditional breakfast not to have beans as standard,) some changed fried egg for poached. Well not 1 breakfast order was correct and when the poached eggs came out as hard boiled you just had to laugh and wonder what was happening in the kitchen. I myself ordered scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on toast, smoked salmon was lovely and fresh, the egg wad like a chopped up fried egg, probably one that was taken back and NO Toast, we all looked at each other and burst out laughing in disbelief. No apology, nothing. So in summary, the venue was not to bad, stay away from the restaurant and make sure you take enough toilet roll because we were refused one by the...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at the Hall Farm Restaurant, and I must say it was a truly outstanding experience. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm and friendly service that instantly made me feel welcome.
To start off, I ordered the vegetable soup as my starter. The soup was incredibly flavorful and packed with fresh vegetables. It was the perfect way to kick off my meal and left me eagerly anticipating what was to come.
For the main course, I opted for the sirloin beef with vegetables. The beef was cooked to perfection, tender and full of succulent flavors. The accompanying vegetables were cooked just right, maintaining their natural textures and flavors. It was a delightful combination that left me thoroughly satisfied.
As if that wasn't enough, I couldn't resist indulging in the cheesecake for dessert. It was an absolute delight! The cheesecake was creamy, rich, and had just the right amount of sweetness. It was the perfect ending to an already exceptional meal.
The ambiance of the restaurant was also worth mentioning. The rustic decor and cozy atmosphere added a touch of charm to the dining experience. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, making sure that every aspect of my visit was enjoyable.
Overall, my experience at Hall Farm Restaurant was nothing short of fantastic. The food was exceptional, the service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was inviting. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable...
Read moreThe Hotel's location in Ashby cum Zenby is not difficult to find. Once off the paved road surface it needs a short drive, past the beautiful church, on an unmade roadway - it is not a difficult route and a 4x4 is definitely not needed. Once onto the carparking area you are confronted by the farm buildings which were converted and modified to form the hotel. Once in the reception area the true character is revealed. It is modern, welcoming, the rooms are clean and very well appointed. The restaurant is in a separate building but a few yards away from the accommodation area. It can boast an interesting menu which offers beautifully fresh cooked food served by staff who are friendly but efficient at performing their tasks. This is the second time we have stayed at Hall Farm and eaten in the restaurant. We have not had any shred of a reason to find fault with anything we have experienced during those visits. If any were to ask if we will visit the Hotel again, there can be no doubt...
