We visited yesterday lunchtime. Judging from other reviews it must have been an off day but it was bad enough for us to decide we would not return another time. The service was off hand, bordering on rude. A request for a the cod finger dog to be served on crusty bread rather than brioche was met with a curt “No”. So we went for 3 crab sandwiches and the cod chowder. The sandwiches were ok but the bread was supermarket sliced stuff. The chowder was an unpleasant thick gloopy thing with a skin on top. We should have sent it back but my wife didn’t want to make a fuss especially given the brusque service we had already experienced. She wishes she had! The drinks were ok but the Doombar on draught was a bit flat. Read moreWent to Bryher for the day and found this small bar. Went upstairs, sat down, took our jackets off as it had been raining. Partner had gone to use the facilities whilst I checked the menu. No cakes or sweet treats, no food being served. When he got back, we decided together we would go somewhere else. As we popped on our jackets about to leave, the male member of staff said "thank you for gracing my facilities" (as though we just wanted to use the toilet). I thought that was rude, especially considering we had obviously taken a seat to have food and drink and not to use the facilities. I was not expecting that on such a beautiful island. Situated on the magical island of Bryher call in have a drink and maybe something to eat and relax and soak up the atmosphere. The owner and staff are very helpful and want your visit to be enjoyable. I haven't stayed in the self catering cottages, but met some people who had, and they had already made plans to return next year. I would say to anyone out there, if you haven't visited these islands before, please do so, you will come back fully refreshed and looking forward to returning we certainly are and the Fraggle Rock on Bryher will be one of our first...
