I highly recommend a visit the this absolute gem. Located in the charming village of Lothersdale in the rolling countryside of North Yorkshire, it stands out from the crowd. We checked in at the bar where we had reserved a table for two for Sunday lunch. We were met with a smile and taken to our table on the newly opened first floor bar and dining room. This looks and feels like every last penny has been spent to make this an absolutely stunning space and typifying that high end country pub vibe perfectly. The staff member who took our order was really friendly and professional and took a real interest in our meal choices congratulating me on my main of steak rigatoni! The food came and was wonderful. Spicy chorizo starters with my Wife having their Sunday beef roast to follow. I spotted a brilliant touch, a comfy doggy bed being placed by a chair of a neighbouring table in anticipation of the arrival of a family and their four legged friend. Clearly this establishment wholeheartedly welcomes our pets! With full bellys, our overall parting impression was that we had just visited a fantastic establishment with lovely people and amazing food. Whether it's a cosy meal for two or a family celebration, give the H&H a try, you certainly won't be...

Beautiful rural pub with a great atmosphere, it was full on a Tuesday night which was a good sign and having eaten here I can see why.

Outstanding food and service which was very prompt and friendly from all of the staff.

The bar had a good selection of beers and ales on tap and on the menu there is a wide range of choices for each course with some veggie options too.

We chose the meatballs and salad to start and both were excellent, the salad was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The meatballs were also excellent with a rich tomato sauce accompanying, both portions were a very good size too.

For mains we chose the H and H Nosh pot which is essentially a fancy cottage pie served with a small side of pickles and the Homemade burger with added blue cheese and bacon which carried a surcharge of £1.50 each. Both meals were again delicious and very generous portions sizes.

We didn't really have room for dessert but as the rest of the food was so good we forced down a raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake and a scoop of cherry ice cream and both were also superb.

We both enjoyed our evening so much that we booked to come back in a few days time, highly recommend this place if you're...

The Hare and Hounds in Lothersdale undeniably captures the charm of a quintessential countryside pub. Its picturesque rural setting and cozy ambiance are likely why it enjoys such popularity. However, my recent visit left much to be desired in terms of service and food quality.

Service was frustratingly slow, with multiple requests required for simple items like a steak knife. Waiting 20 minutes for a soft drink added to the overall disappointment. But the biggest letdown was the ribeye steak. Despite ordering an 11oz medium-rare cut, what I received was a much smaller portion and overcooked to a well-done state. It’s hard not to feel short-changed when the meal doesn’t meet even basic expectations.

While the location and atmosphere are undeniable strengths, the poor attention to detail and lack of precision in food preparation are glaring issues. I’d consider returning, but only after ensuring improvements in service and food quality.

Update, they are accurate, they don’t serve an 11oz, the actual size is 10oz. However be rest assured the shoe sole thin piece of meat they served was absolutely NOT a 10oz ribeye! Stop ripping your...
