Not far from A30 Zelah turn off. Hadn't been there for several years so was thrilled to meet the new owners and see the updated Pub. The new side extension is light, clean and a pleasure to sit in. The food was great, tried the gluten free smoke haddock fish cakes, delicious. Great barman with several local celebrities sitting in the original pub area which is a sure sign, in my eyes, that the pub is well attended and appreciated locally, the best judges of all, of course. The only negative is the parking which is a bit short but a lot of external updating was going on at the time so hence the work mens vehicles took up a few spaces, but don't let that deter you, definitely a decent pub with decent food...
Read moreIt's February, damp quiet and nobody has any money. The wife had a birthday earlier in the week and a few months ago had mentioned going to the Hawkins Arms for a meal. So table booked and waiting in anticipation. Greeted by a friendly face on arrival at the bar, who remembered that I had visited earlier in the week to book a table. Drinks ordered and shown to our table. Wood burner keeping a warm atmosphere. No starters just straight into the main events perfectly cooked and flavoured. Read moreHolidaying from London and was recommended this place by a lovely gentleman whilst driving past the town of Rose. He described it as more restaurant than pub quality food. Me & my partner Helen both had lovely meals and she in particular was happy with the vegan choices available. We ate there a few days after August Bank Holiday Monday. This meant it was a little on the quieter side, but we found the staff were polite, interested and attentive all throughout the evening.
