Food - really good and have been many times 👌 Service - poor (previously good, on previous visits) Reason for the two star review, managers attitude to her customers. Arrived soon after they opened, ordered breakfast items for the family, chased 40 minutes after at least ten other customers arrived, ordered the same items and got them within minutes of ordering. We thought because our order was bigger we would give them a bit more time. After chasing the manager came out with receipts of orders made but ours wasn't there, clearly they have lost our order. Mistakes happen, we are only human. After being informed that the food was on the way from another member of staff, I asked how long it would be given at this stage it has been an hour, was told not sure but it's being cooked now. Due to have youger children we decided to leave and request a refund. The managers response to my request for a refund and the reason for the delay (reason for the two star review) "your in Cornwall in the summer, don't be surprised if you have to wait for your food" I then asked why none of their other customers had to wait, she didn't know what to say, I just wanted an apology. I was given a refund for food only, on my request. Given the amount of time I waited, if I was in that position I would have provided the customer with a refund for the full amount and offered the food for free, as offer of an appology.

The manager did appologise when passing the money back to me, but felt it wasn't genuine and she felt that I was being unreasonable, which I don't believe I was being given the...

Went today and it wasn't great. Drink was cold and when they remade it, it was cold again. Food was ordered to take away and was presented in open boxes...not great to walk back across the car park on a very rainy day. When asked for it to be covered as it was a takeaway, was given a tea tray to cover it and carry across the car park to the car to keep it dry...I was hoping for a closed box which is what we used to get. The food tasted OK, hd chips were hot but both sarnies were cold. This was our go to place at the weekend after a beach walk with the dogs but the recent changes have altered the feel of the place and the standard of service and food. Im hoping its teething problems and that service will improve and more thought will be given for take away orders, especially when it's raining. Photos of the takeaway boxes and the rain...as I pointed out, it wouldn't have been worth eating carried back to the car in...

Have given one star for the excellent ice cream but was terribly disappointed with the service and the coffees we ordered alongside the ice cream. The woman who served us was clearly stressed and quite short with us which as a stand alone was fine (we all have tricky days). However we were then asked to stand and eat our ice cream inside, with a lot of other waiting customers, just outside the toilet. We waited for at least 20 minutes and when our coffees were finally ready they were incorrect. Again another understandable mistake but the girl doing the coffee very rudely rolled her eyes saying ‘oh right’ huffed and walked away slamming the coffees on the side by the machine. Made the next customers coffees before remaking ours and the leaving them on the side for us to collect without saying a word. To make matters worse both coffees were so bad we ended up not drinking them....

We stopped for coffee and cake in the afternoon sorry no cream tea and scones available so we opted for the coffee and cake. Not happy at all very expensive £15.00 for 2 x lemon cake and a espresso and a black coffee No chain cups and saucers or plates All served in cardboard cups and plates coffee Luke warm and not good at all and the cake is like a piece of sponge rubber soaked in vegetable oil inedible. I have been trained as a head chef and also I am a qualified barrister for Costa and Nero so I know what I am talking about. They display a 5 Grade hygiene on the door but it doesn't reflect in the quality of the offer and value of the goods . My advice is avoid until I go back to do another secret shopper and I will update you on how things are I have attached a picture of the cake the coffee we dumped .

I've been coming here for years. Always loved the cream teas. No complaints. This time it was different. Not only for the obvious reasons due to covid. There was a few people there when we arrived, So there was a wait. The staff are lovely, but not very good. We had to keep telling them what we'd ordered. Then we had to get them to change what they gave us, as it wasn't what we ordered. We went outside to eat our single scone, there's no longer two scones with your cream tea. To find the scones crumbled when you cut them. Not great. If they crumbled just from being cut, can you imaginemagine what it was like putting the jam on. I usually come here at least twice a year, but I don't think I will be back. There's too many other places to go.
