As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the friendly staff who were attentive, helpful and welcoming all evening. The atmosphere was relaxed and very dog friendly. The service was really quick and the food was great. We ordered the fishcakes and stuffed potato long boats for starters. Both were great. And each of the steak pies for main. I'm normally pretty good at clearing my plate I struggled, since the steak and ale pie was very generous and tasted soo good I didn't want to leave any! Unfortunately there was just no more room for a dessert. We asked to stay the night in our campervan. The staff were more than happy to have us stay. We were even offered the use of an outside toilet with hot water and fresh drinking water if we needed to fill our tank. We will definitely visit this pub again and would recommend it to anyone in a heart beat.

We found the place on the Park4Night app and decided to have our first "pub stopover" in our van here. They allow campervans to stay in their carpark if you eat and drink in the pub. The pub was ace! Proper English, independent, country pub, full of lovely folk. I had the steak and ale pie which was great, washed down with their house Bitter (£3.80) which is brewed locally especially for them. Don't expect any fancy gastro pub, just proper good honest hospitality and grub. Had a lovely nights sleep in their carpark. Although the lorries going to and from the local quarry are a bit noisy in the morning. A quick drive down to settle for a walk and all in all a lovely time was had! I've attached photos of their menu (as of Jan 2022) We will definately return! Follow our adventures on Instagram @tansythefordtransit

Fantastic stay at the pub carpark in the camper. We had drinks on the river terrace overlooking Pen-y-ghent, and some beautiful meals in the restaurant. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Dogs allowed in ,as long as on a lead. Great value, nice choice of cask beers, ciders and lagers. Theres a bunkhouse and a tentfield, fresh water and an outside toilet available too. Campervans and motorhomes need to register with staff at the bar, have a meal or drinks, and stay overnight. Good tv reception and decent internet reception. We will be back again, thankyou for your hospitality

The pub should be on your list if you are visiting the area to give you a taster of every day Yorkshire life. The bar is frequented by many local characters who are very welcoming and engage you in their topic of discussion for the day. Mostly entertaining! The bar has a great choice of drinks and offers sample tasters of local beer. The restaurant serves good, home made food with no fuss and the portions are massive, making it great value for money. Dogs, children and everyone made welcome by the very friendly owners, who always seem to remember faces, no matter how infrequently you visit. The view from the bar window shows the river Ribble and the Settle to Carlisle railway, which due to the proximity, is a gem when the steam trains go through. There is seating outside and even though it is against the car park, the owners have transformed the gardens into colourful displays and is a suntrap on good days. The pub is in a good location to walk to Pen-y-Ghent (long walk) but a different way from the usual Horton-in-Ribblesdale end and has the unique Hotel Paradiso on offer should you want to stay overnight after your trek. It is within walking distance of Stainforth and Knight Stainforth caravan park. There are children's games and books/dvds on loan if you are camping in the...

Called in for Sunday lunch. The most unappetising meal I have ever been offered. I ordered chicken breast in a peppercorn sauce. The plate arrived and I immediately noticed the frozen packet veg, the chicken was in a separate dish - all chopped up, mixed with the sauce. It had obviously been cooked beforehand and just warmed up as it was very stringy. It came with dark skinned whole potatoes which looked like they hadn't been washed with separate individual portions of butter. I tried, but the peppered sauce it was so, so hot I could only eat a couple of mouthfuls, my friend also tried it and she agreed. In the end I swapped it with my husband's roast beef as he can eat anything hot and spicy! I ploughed my way through the - not so tender beef and hard sweetcorn but mentioned it to the waitress who agreed that the chicken was far too hot for her too! I enjoyed the "bought in" sticky toffee pudding but will not be returning and would...
