It is rare when you can hand on heart say somewhere is āspecialā. No7 in the sleepy village of Niton on the southern coast of Isle of Wight is such a place. Its front door is the entrance to the Post Office and shop. Explore further and you will find a snug bar, yes with locals, but friendly ones, the bar always has a choice of real ales, the occasional obscure scrumpy and is a reminder of what pubs used to be. Further on is the ābigger bar or on occasions the dining room. Beyond that is a lovely cottage garden delightful in spring and summer but ideal for parties in Marquees as late as November. Now that, in itself, is not what makes No7 special for that we have to look to its leaders and the staff. Sam (short for Samantha) is the post mistress, runs the shop, is the licensee and overall manager of this curious place. Samās partner - Lloyd is the chef and he is a very talented cook. On Friday I went for the āFriday Mealā which was one of my favorites - Beef Bourguignon. I lived in London for 20 years so if your not from the island I assure you this would sit well in our most fashionable restaurants. No7 is a real experience, it is āreal Englandā. So if your looking for the smart, emotionless, formulaic too suave itās...

Wood fired traditional pizza oven and handmade dough and classic recipes. I canāt comment on the other food other than to say it looks great, because if I manage to get a table (itās often booked) all Iām eating is the pizza. Probably stupid leaving a review because it might make it less likely I get...
