Kabirs Restaurant — Restaurant in England

We ordered our food using the online service, gave ourself extra time as we anticipated a busy night. We waited 1.5 hours and then tried to call. After too many calls I got through, to be told they aren't doing our order and hung up. I tried to ask about a refund but got cut off, called back over 10 times and eventually got through, samw thing again. They didn't ask who I was or about my order just said they aren't making it and hung up. We drove to the restaurant to find over 15 people in the small wait area, crammed in all experiencing the same as me. One woman put her order through around 2pm and was not getting any answers.

I appreciate it's New Years and fully anticipated we would have a delay, but the service we received, or in fact didn't, was a complete disappointment.

I'm yet to know if my money has been refunded and if not will have to sort this tomorrow. Such a shame.

We drove down to Shenai who apologised profusely, advising they are partner companies and gave us priority service with excellent tasting food. We're lucky to have got our food at 21:30 and I feel awful for those left at Kabirs just being ignored, left without their food and out of pocket.

After 5 years of ordering from Kabirs, we will now look elsewhere to order our Indian food, to avoid future...

Update 3rd Dec 2021: OVERCROWDED & DOUBLE BOOKED. This place relies on its reputation from a decade ago. I booked the curry club in for an 8pm table. We arrived to an impossibly crowded place with the small reception packed with people. Needless to say, we were all double booked. On third time of asking it was clear we were not to be seated for an hour. It was also a health hazard. All tables were crowded together and packed with more chairs than comfortable.

Three years ago: Fix that loo door! We were all entertained for a while at the crowd trying to help. Then it became obvious after a while that it was more serious and the young girl emerged after about 40 minutes in tears. Not sure if the service was brilliant either. Used to be such...

As I was dining in this restaurant yesterday with a group of work friends for a promotional meal, my table waiter had made very racist comment about Scottish people. Unbeknown to his knowledge I am Scottish myself. The racist comment he made was "I am glad none of you are Scottish as scottish are very tight and do not like to part with money" I was shocked and embarrassed as I was socialising with people from work. Giving this rating of 1 star makes me feel sick I would put no stars if there was an option. I would never recommend this restaurant or set foot in here again.
