Cafe man is not professional: On Monday 3rd Sept 2018, following some Google reviews, we (two families with a 6 months infant and a pregnant woman) decided to visit Kynance Cove before we check out from Sea Acers at 10:00 am.
The opening time as indicated by the NT website is at 8 am in the summer, we were the first people to arrive there at 8:00 am, and sat naturally on the provided café benches. We brought our tea and biscuits to start our day with. We realised that the café is closed so we decided to order breakfast at 9:00 am (as a typical opening time).
Five minutes after we cleaned and sat on the Cafe benches, a man came and shouted us:
You CAN’T sit on the benches; "HAVE YOU NOT READ THE SIGN", it is a no picnic area”. I was stunned by his approach as I never experienced such behaviour from an early start of a conversation. (we did not notice the sign as we never expected such a sign in a small site!).
After reading the sign, which states that the benches are for customer, I said, no problem, we are going to order from you anyway when you open at 9:00 am. He replied: by 9:00 you will have finished your tea/biscuit and gone!
He indicated that we can go down and sit on a bench that, when assessed, it was located 90 degrees away from the beach and not safe to access as the passage was not suitable for pram and there is a danger of slipping.
I offered him to pay for the sitting time, he said “I DO NOT DO THAT” which is fair enough. After insisting, he said: “IT IS MY BUSINESS I WORK HARD!” he repeated his sentence many times which clearly has nothing to do with me.
We then sat on beach stones for 10 minutes and left the site disappointed.
I want national trust to answer the following question:
What will visitors do if they come at 8 am and the cafe is closed and they don’t want to sit in the down area on stones for safety reasons? Clearly, National Trust made to fail to comply with the U.K. health and safety measures and put people enjoyment in...
Read moreUrgently needed to extend our parking time on the car parking app as it had lapsed but had 0 phone signal to do so. Rather than hike all the way back up to the car park to come back down; and seeing as we were planning to stay an hour at the café anyway, I presumed they would have WiFi to allow me to do this and thus spend money at their establishment. WRONG.
Sign reads 'No WiFi, sorry not sorry'
I know the café obviously has WiFi in order to run the payment systems etc etc so I thought I'd explain the situation to the guy behind the counter, I was told they can't give out the WiFi code and I should instead run up a steep hill to get phone signal.. imagine being in the 21st century and not allowing your customers to use WiFi???
Secondly, after I had ran up this steep hill - stressed - knowing that every second passing by increased my risk of an expensive parking ticket (partly my fault I know), and after thinking it'd all be worth it once I get a nice beverage to enjoy the view at the café - I sent my Mrs in to do the drinks orders and she returned extremely disheartened at her treatment by the café staff. She was asking for an oat shake (milkshake made with oat milk) which is literally written on the menu and the staff member attempted to belittle her because she herself didn't know what am oat shake was. Unacceptable.
Absolutely stunning place though, nice view and the drinks from the...
Read moreLoved the cafe but not many vegetarian or vegan options so I ended up with jacket potatoes with baked beans the only option there was. But staff friendly helpful fantastic best coastal views in England in my option. Could do with a ramp option for disabled people my husband used brute force to get me in. But the was 6 people outside on mobility scooters and wheelchairs I met from the cornish ramblers most were much older than my husband and I and they couldn't get in as of the step and while struggled in no one offered a ramp so presumably there wasn't one. The national trust were amazing as they told us to ring them in advance and they will let you use there private road up to the cafe and toilets were there is a good disabled toilets. Also parking free to blue badge holders. Sadly couldn't get to beach as too dangerous in a scooter or wheelchair. One brilliant thing I must mention is they gave away eco friendly bamboo reusable cups with lids free with any coffee you bought. Can't wait to go back sadly so frustrating that such amazing place and beautiful blue clear water and almost while sandy beaches that look like you should be some where tropical instead of England. I wish our seas looked as gorgeous in East anglia but we have bigger beaches and skies. Home sick.for Cornwall already and I've only just started the very long almost 400...
