Lamb & Lark Inn — Restaurant in England

Went to this pub today for Sunday lunch but never going back again! The food was ok but the atmosphere wasn"t good and the lady wearing a white overall and serving the carvery and running around stressing over nothing, was very rude and unwelcoming! Firstly, although we had booked a table, they could not find it and she was quite rude about that and finding us another table and whilst waiting at the carvery, with our 2 1/2 year old daughter, the lady asked what our daughter was having to eat and i said that we have brought food for her, to which she replied rather rudely and abruptly that there would be a high chair charge of £1:50 then because we are not buying food for her and too many people take food from their own plates and give to their children!! I have never heard anything as ridiculous in my life! We had brought food for our daughter anyway, but regardless of this, we were paying for our food so therefore we should be able to do what we like with said food!! Apart from anything else it was this lady's tone and abruptness that we did not like. But the icing on the cake was when a family came and sat on the table behind us, with a child roughly the same age as our daughter, and was given an extra plate and the mum was taking food from her plate and putting on the child's plate for him to eat! Clearly there is one rule for one and one for another and this pub is definitely not a child...

We came here on a Sunday to enjoy the carvery. As soon as we arrived we were made to feel welcome by the lovely owners. Their affable nature and cheery demeanour made us feel relaxed. We ordered a series of well priced drinks and settled in. The pub had a lovely atmosphere and we drank in the vibe. We ordered the carvery, I ordered the beef (turkey and pork was also on offer) there was plenty of meet in my portion. All the trimmings were there and I went back with a plate piled high. The food was absolutely delicious! Meat was tender and juicy and the rest of the food equally delicious! My only disappointment is that I am not in the country long enough to go back there! We booked a table for 3 and were warned that they would be very busy with a buffet for 40 going on. When we arrived and took our table our hostess was rather surprised and said it would be sometime before our order could be taken and as for getting our food . . . . ! We said that we were quite happy to wait, chat and have our drinks. As it happened, our order was taken 10 minutes later and on the table in another 10. Absolutely first rate service from all the staff who remained friendly and professional throughout a VERY busy evening. Afraid I can't say we'll be back soon as we live in Oxfordshire, but if you're reading this looking for recommendations, we can't rate it highly enough. (We were the Extra Dry Martini group...
