Been wanting to try this ‘alternative’ pub for a while. Large car park with plenty of space, no steps or slopes into the bar. Access for buggies, wheelchairs etc should be okay, my mother walks with the aid of a frame and has no issues.

Inside the decor is certainly alternative but in a great way, loved it! Plenty to look at, keep you entertained and talk about as you wait for your food or just pass the time.

Staff were friendly and welcoming, there was just one guy running the bar, taking food orders and bringing food out; I thought he needed a helper or coworker really.

There is a decent bar area with seating or there is more ‘restaurant’ style seating further back beyond the bar. We chose to sit in the bar area seating which is a mixture of booth and chairs.

Dogs are allowed in which is great, there is free Wi-Fi which is good as my mobile signal was very poor.

The menu is standard pub food, quite a bit of choice and plenty of options for gluten free. I chose to have the fillet steak cooked medium, I had a starter of garlic bread but chose for it all to come out together.

Mother had beef brisket loaded fries, the portion was massive so I had to help her finish it. The steak was perfectly cooked, I chose to have the peppercorn sauce; this was a bit watery and bland. The steak comes with chunky chips, peas, mushrooms, tomatoes and onion rings.

For dessert I had the nutty apple crumble with ice cream, it was okay.

Overall this is a great venue with acceptable food, friendly staff and awesome decor that will keep you talking and looking all night. Based on this experience I would...

We were a party of three when we arrived the menus were different to ones advertised online one ordered the classic burger and two of us had king cod with a side order of 4 mozzarella sticks £9 and when it arrived at the table the cod was in a buns absolutely covered in tartar sauce everything on the plate the quality was very poor. I had to send the fish back as it was not advertised that the tartar sauce would be smeared all over it, I asked the waitress over explained that I could not eat it I don't like tartar sauce. I was told to wait she went off to the kitchen came back and said yes they could do another one with no tartar sauce. When it arrived at the table it was terrible it was burnt the fish inside had a slight smell to it could not eat it 😔,I was not going to complain again overall extremely very overpriced quality of food not up to par.overall bill was £94.75 that includes 2cokes one bottle of wine over priced at £22 . Will never be going back and will not ever recommend.update after I left my review the owners went on to social media moaning about keyboard warriors, people not being able to read a menu🤬.well if they updated their menu on their website people would know what to expect that everything comes in a bun . Maybe would be nice if waitresses explain that to customers . We had actually been to this restaurant twice before had outstanding meals hence why we booked come back this time.I'm not a keyboard warrior just honest and what great customer service calling...

This is somewhere my partner and I have been wanting to go for several months, but things just haven't aligned for us, so we were excited when we realised we'd be going today. Parking is abundant, the place has a lovely atmosphere and is a super interesting place to be, the drinks were good... The food however was quite the opposite unfortunately:

I had fish that was saturated in grease and the top was burnt (it was put on my plate upside down, presumably to make it less obvious), to the point that I left a significant amount of it. For £18 I was massively disappointed. My partner had a Ploughmans, which wouldn't have been bad for £10-12, but for £16 felt extortionate - half a Scotch Egg (cut in 2) and a single slice of bread (cut in half) felt stingy, but then there was a huge portion of butter... The meal was poorly balanced and although the ingredients clearly weren't cheap, they felt store-bought (likely M&S). These prices command a high level of quality and that wasn't met on any front sadly.

The place is brilliant, whoever is responsible for the pricing/food needs to look at what the competition are...

I'm very lucky to have discovered two incredible places in as many days (though I am walking the length of Britain, so you'd hope I'd stumble across something good in between the endless run of 'spoons and Marstons). As with my find yesterday, Leather and Lace is doing something really bold, creative and passionate in a time when taking risks in the hospitality industry seems like it should be impossible. The inside of this place is incredible. Quirky, certainly - but more than that, elegant and boldly stylish. You will never run out of things to look at and discover on the walls. Pint wise they have decent European lagers as well as a modern IPA (not British cask) and Blue Moon - all at excellent prices. And the food is great - the lunch menu includes burgers and loaded fries; the gooeyness of the bbq brisket paired perfectly with deliciously crisp fries. More on offer for dinner. And a delicious Baileys banoffee pie for pudding. Topped with friendly service and an owner full of interesting travel stories - it's these kind of discoveries that make adventuring in the UK worth it.

What a fantastic find!! Incredible food, the burgers, soo delicious, tasty Mac n Chesse and heavenly home made cheesecakes! Julia and Pete were so hospitable, nothing was too much trouble. The resident parrot entertained our twin boys for the entire stay! Chatting, having conversations and dancing - the parrot that is! The decor was something else, taking us back to our childhood with chopper bikes, Roland rat and so much more. I feel I could go on and on. Highly highly recommended on food, ambience, decor, hospitality the lot. It truly put huge smiles on all our faces, a wonderful way to start off our mini break.
