Lion & Lamb — Restaurant in England

I visited the lion and lamb this week on Monday with my family. There are plenty of good aspects, looks great from the outside and ample parking, the inside is also very nice and clean. The reason for my 1 star review is purely based on the standard of the food we ate for the price we paid. We all ordered the burger and we all left our food because it was quite frankly awful. I can only only comment on the burger and cannot say anything about any of the other food on the pub menu. But the burger was of a very poor quality and it did not taste right at all, it was also extremely greasy, It was not a good experience. The only positive is that there was plenty of chips on the plate. We also had issues with getting sauce, we were given a tiny amount between 4 of us, and when we asked for more the lady brought some over but was almost annoyed that we asked for more. Like we were being greedy.

Additionally, the burger had cheap plastic sachet cheese on it (like you would use at a BBQ).For the cost of the burger this isn’t good enough. Most pubs put use proper cheese!

Now you might ask why did we not go up to the bar and complain at the point of sale? To be honest we felt we would have got an earful before we got anywhere and we didn’t want to go through this. My mother actually left a review on trip advisor and the tone of the response she got from the landlady justifies this feeling. It was aggressive and condescending.

All in all we wasn’t expecting world class Michelin star burgers, but for £10 or £11 per burger (I forget exactly) I am at least expecting edible food. This was about as far away from being edible as Jupiter is from the Earth. Yeah okay, it’s pub food, and we shouldn’t expect much right? but Iv been to many pubs and this is by far the worse I have ever experienced in terms of food. And for £10? You work it out. Very disappointed and will not be coming back for food.

I’ll be honest with you, a burger is probably the hardest thing to get wrong, I’m no chef but I could have done a better job with both hands tied behind my back. You need to buy better quality burgers because at the moment You are clearly buying the cheapest ones possible.

I think the owners need to maybe eat some of their own food sometime and then tell me honestly if they would be happy to eat this poor standard of food. If you make no changes to the food I fear for the future.

Absolutely disgusting service. Booked a table for two this afternoon for 7pm. We turned up promptly, told the waitress we had booked, gave our name. She went to the bar, started chatting to the manager, and you could tell by their demeanour that there was a problem. They pulled a random table out of nowhere, dragged it in the middle of an eating area, took two chairs from another table, and told us to sit there. The table was makeshift and stuck in the worst place, we would have been constantly bumped by waiting staff or customers. The guy who took our booking, clearly hadn’t or hadn’t wrote it down. When I told the manageress I wasn’t happy with the situation of the table, she told me “we use it all the time” (I had literally just watched them pull it from nowhere and take two chairs from another table to make this makeshift one) she said “okay” and just walked away. That was rude and embarrassing. We went up the road to the Coach and Horses where we were treated like customers and had a wonderful evening. Sorry but the steak was asked for rare and it came out stone cold….. fish pie was supposed to be gluten free after eating a small portion I had instant belly pains and I’ve had to go back home only happens to me if I eat gluten…. Definitely would not recommend triple check there gluten free options cause I’m not sure there 100% true… staff who were serving didn’t know what was gluten free I do belive this should be on there menus and also an allergy book should be given to customers with all ingredients stated……… very important !!!!! Now on sitting in a&e cause I’m in agony…. This has now spoilt my holiday all because there not gluten trained…….
