Fabulous. When I arived, I got the strangest feeling of deja vu. Was looking at the name of the venue and trying to remember the history when it hit me, and what triggered the memory was the owner walking past. There was a film made in Yorkshire called LAD- A YORKSHIRE STORY, which was excellent, and the main character was in the news for starting a reclamation yard, this venue is his new adventure. I'd read it on a news article and the owner happened to walk by whilst we were ordering. It is off the main road on its own, and consists of an auction room, antiques, a shop and a cafe. The cafe is small and perfectly formed, as the saying goes. It is on the first floor and has a lift if required. We ordered fish and chips, plus a sandwich and chips. Got to say, stunningly good!! Was served with minted peas, which were absolutely divine, would have happily had a plate just of them. Fish cooked perfectly, and chips cooked perfectly, Plus it came with their own brand of tartar sauce. It was a bit sharper and nicer than a regular sauce, and totally enhanced what I had. We hadn't planned to come here, and it was on the spur of a we-need-to-eat-something moment, and very very glad that we did. Now that we know it is there we will be returning. Plenty of parking, and it is on a gravel surface so be wary if you are in a wheelchair. Staff are excellent. One minor comment is that service was very slow, and I perceive that to be due to the average age of the clientele maybe making a longer trip than we had planned to . They were still very professional and welcoming. A superb venue and a stunningly unexpected meal. Highly recommend. Number of views to date = 9.8m

Stopped here for lunch on the way home from a trip to York. Has recently reopened under new management. The restaurant has been redecorated and a couple of rooms have been opened up to accommodate diners. The area that used to house the main dining area is now being used as the kitchen. We waited to be seated and were told we could sit wherever ever was available, we took a table for two by a window overlooking the Outer courtyard. We were given the lunch menu, I chose fish and chips, my wife chose pan roasted chicken, we also ordered tea and coffee. The drinks came reasonably quickly, but we had about a 25 minute wait for our meals. There is a note on each table about locally sourced fresh produce taking longer to prepare but as we were the only two people having a meal at this time, we thought this was slightly longer than we should have had to wait. When the food came the chicken and pasta on the chicken dish went cold very quickly as though it had been sat waiting for the other dish to be ready. Unfortunately the fish and chips were overcooked, the fish was very dry and the chips were overly crispy. Non of the waiting staff asked us about the food while we were eating and when we asked about the bill we were told to pay at the till. £38.25p for lunch was reasonable, and although I have had better fish and chips my wife did enjoy the pan roasted chicken and ate it all. Based on the experience I don’t think we will be stopping by again.

We've passed this place on many an occasion and never gave it a thought, however, this time we thought that we'd give it a go and ventured in for brunch. The site is an interesting shopping experience with much to browse, and the restaurant is well laid out. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and although the service was a little slow, I'd give them 10/10 for service and presentation, I would certainly visit again.

Today my Wife and Myself called in for a Mooch and some Lunch and Drinks. We were shown to a Table, I sat down and As I put my Hands on the Table it was full of Food Crumbs and the Table cloth was Badly Stained with food and Liquid. I lifted the Table Cloth to find it was stuck to Table top. I looked underneath the cloth and it was full of dry Food stuff. So we moved to a Table nearby. The Young Man approached with our Drinks and I explained about the Table. Oh was the reply. All he done was put fresh Menus on the Table and a Reserve Sign. After a While our food was delivered. I ordered Haddock and Chips with Mushy Peas and Tartar Sauce. My Wife order Roast Beef Sunday Lunch. My Chips were so hard and Dry I pushed my fork into one it Snapped in Two Pieces, they were so called Warm ups the Mushy Peas were like Crunched Pea Nuts no taste of the Mint they had a Hard Skin over top. The Tartar Sauce was so Bland it was Horrible. My Wife had on her plate Warmed up Roast Potato's which were dry good Job she had a Bit of Gravy. We have been to the Lords Restaurant many times. But today was a Case of...
