Real budget accommodation. Tiny tv's, Luke warm shower, thin mattress and unimaginative food. Last time I went they took the booking then when I arrived told me they were too busy to cook breakfast but would make a sandwich. I left immediately and won't stay their again.
22/07/19 Well I had to stay here again due to working in the area again and a lack of availability elsewhere. I agreed to stay as this place is under new ownership. It's just a shame nothing has changed. No breakfast at first as they think you would prefer a packed lunch even though we was working at a place where lunch was available. What was served for breakfast was inedible so we supplied our own ( healthy option) .Didnt always get to eat that as this place is unmanned and on occasion no one turned up. Evening meals were tasteless with the owner trying to convince people there is a steak cut from the bistro part of a cow. They didn't even know what a spanish omelette is. The bedrooms hadn't changed except there was more black mould than before. The showers were as powerful as a pensioner with a prostate issue and we had to fix one of the toilet systems to stop the water running constantly. There was no clean towels in the weeks stay and the rooms were not serviced. Someone went in the rooms but it wasn't obvious what they did. To top the stay off we had a drunken idiot trying to get through one of our windows around midnight but the staff showed no interest. We have now found other places to stay in the area that are clean and have edible food served by friendly people I suggest you...
Read moreDidn't enjoy my experience here. I think that maybe I caught them on a bad day. Although the staff were very nice and the beer wasn't bad, the food was dreadful. Had to choose Fish n Chips since everything else was 'off'. Truly foul. The fish was small, tasteless, undercooked and they'd left the skin on...a sure sign of a lazy chef in my opinion. This view was bourne out by the chips. They were oven chips and even they were undercooked. How can you undercook oven chips? The mushy peas were OK, at least the chef knows how to open a tin and operate a...
Read moreThis is the first time we have eaten at the Marquis and it won't be the last. We have driven past many times before stopping and we are very glad we did. We ordered drinks ( Guinness and cider - both well kept) and lunch. We had Cod loin from the specials board and a steak from the Grills menu. Both were beautifully cooked - especially as my partner likes her steak medium rare. The loin was of a delicate flavour with a loverly prosecco sauce. Finally - the food is great value too. Highly...
