Drove up from Scarborough towing caravan and had my twin grandsons we were all pretty exhausted and in need of refreshments was really disappointing to be told they only except cash in this day and age. Reply - Hi there so sorry you feel this way I gave this one star as I was really looking forward to having some refreshments parked up got my grandsons seated out at your tables while my other half went into order and was not given the option to order and was not directed to the nearest cash line it’s just a shame there are no signage outside telling people of this cash only service while I do understand your frustration that you feel you were not rated on your food quality. I am equally disappointed I was unable to try any so was my other half and three year old grandsons . This is a true reflection of our experience an I am only telling the absolute truth as some people do not carry cash and like you say you guys are tucked just of the A1 plus the go camping immediately next door take plastic

Food: 10/10 Price: 10/10 Staff: 10/10 Cakes: 15/10

Don’t even think twice about whether you should go here. Just go. The food is absolutely amazing and the staff are really lovely!

I must warn you about the cakes though; you’ll never find cakes better these and if you get one you’ll be eating it for the rest of the day. The portion sizes are huge! But just because they’re big doesn’t mean it’s overcompensating for taste. I’ve had traybakes and cakes with flavours that I’d never even think of combining. Possibly one of my favourites is the Mars and Bounty brownie. Any kind of brownie is good to me.

A really great option on the sit in menu is the soup and bacon roll. Great price and great, homemade flavour~

All in all a definite favourite of mine! I wish they delivered because I don’t drive to be able to get there. I’d be ordering my lunch every single day if that...

My partner, Susan, and I visited the cafe today at about 12.30pm and we sat at Table 9. We chose Option 1 from the breakfast menu, with a coffee and a tea.

The service we received was excellent! The quality of the food was excellent, with both of us enjoying the standard of the egg, the taste of the sausage and the bacon and the quantity of the beans, along with the toast. For a busy cafe, the standard of cooking is absolutely fantastic!

We had been in before but had settled only for breakfast rolls. We have now decided to come back and have a full breakfast and, at another time have an evening meal. The gammon and the roast dinner look particularly appealing!

Thank you for making our visit thoroughly enjoyable. We spent some time afterwards talking about how good the whole experience was! We both look forward to our next visit.

Yours sincerely,

Bill Heaney &...

Off the cuff visit whilst driving from Dunbar down to Durham on a rainy autumn day. Needed a hot breakfast to motivate and cheer us up. Saw that all the reviews were really good so decided to try a take away breakfast as we had the dog in the van with us (although on ordering realised that dogs were more than welcome inside too). At first it appeared that we would have trouble parking our crafter camper van, but in truth there was plenty of room for us. There was a positive, buzzing vibe to the place, it was clean and well stocked with tempting goodies. Our breakfast (number 2) was nicely presented in a box and filled with juicy fat sausages, thick cut bacon, a perfectly fried egg, black pudding, peppery haggis and a crispy hash brown all laid on a tatty scone. We opted for the tomato side dish instead of baked beans. Nice change. Excellent value and very tasty.

Wow!! How did it take us two years to visit this gem? Sunday morning breakfast was just fantastic. The cafe was busy when we arrived and almost overrun by the time we left! But nothing seemed to knock the good humour or the efficiency of the lovely staff. And I was tempted just to stay til lunchtime because the array of lunch goodies was fantastic. Criticism? Tiny - toast was just standard sliced white, butter was liquid because hot toast was laid on top of it, and the option of a little marmalade would have been welcome. But we will be back - quite possibly in the next couple of days. I just hope noone will read this review otherwise there will be no room for us!!! Thank you all.
