An 85 year old Grandmother was proud to take her two teenage grandchildren, who were visiting for the weekend, for Sunday lunch. Since it was a big occasion she rang up months before to book and request a table in the restaurant. On the day they arrived early and were told they had a table in the bar. Disappointed the Grandmother politely explained she had been expecting a table in the restaurant. The owner came down and according to the children was spoiling for a fight and quite aggressive in stance and tone. He said no tables were guaranteed or reservable and if she didn’t like it she could leave. Shocked the Grandmother calmly said she didn’t like the way he was speaking to her. His response was ‘leave then’. The granddaughter asked - if no tables were able to be reserved and since the restaurant was still empty - why was moving our table such an issue? At which point he went red, got flustered by her simple logic and moved them. Upset they decided to just leave. I am posting this because the Grandmother is my mother and the behaviour of this man towards an elderly person was despicable and actually quite shocking. We’ve gone to this restaurant a number of times and it’s been generally good, but we won’t go again. I think this tells me that they don’t value their customers or even basic decency. Mason's Arms. A postcard setting! Lovely, quaint, picturesque pub on the side of a stream in a lovely village. Dog 🐕 friendly! Gravel Car parking at the rear and a few spaces at the front on the road. Lovely friendly staff and plenty of them! Nice atmosphere inside. Plenty of tables outside. Very nice Sunday lunch. Read moreThe Masons Arms has been a regular watering hole and Sunday lunch venue for years, we were delighted to hear that it has reopened up again following the covid-19 outbreak, the pub takes the safety and hygiene standards very seriously whilst maintaining a great atmosphere, the staff are just so lovely and try their absolute best to make sure everyone is catered for and looked after well, the service is great and always accompanied by a warm smile.
