An English Pub at its best! I rate very few eateries 5-stars, and this one is thoroughly deserving. Don't let the stark frontage deter you from entering this delightful village pub. Excellent ales and some unusual dishes that raise it above the norm. Beer: superb pints of Taylor's Landlord and London Pride. Food: main dishes tasted genuinely home-made with fresh ingredients. Salt & pepper squid was juicy, not rubbery. Halloumi fries and buffalo wings were fairly standard but nicely presented. The goat curry was proper curry with proper slow cooked on-the-bone meat, that rewards a bit of fiddly fork work - delicious. The mega burger was just that, a good mountain of tasty beef with tasty trimmings and fresh salad. The desserts were excellent: again properly made with proper ingredients, not from a catering pack. The South African coconut malva pudding was a luscious treat.

Very out of the way but outstanding service, Food was amazing Chef was friendly staff was helpful and friendly with a smile could not do enough for us very trusting opened a tap for us soon as we got there. Private parking. Food prices was fair for the quality and believe me you will not be disappointed 🙂 we had desert but we could hardly fit it in after are mains lol. Good beer 3 real ales two guest ales and one thats of always (courage) they use a spirinkler but top the beer up if head is to big. Over all every good quality and so friendly if we lived closer we would come on a regular will not forget the place and hope to come back in the future :) big thank you to the staff if they read this x

Only visited for a pint or two on a bank holiday Sunday, landlord Hal was welcoming and friendly. Picked a cask ale from the three on offer (decent selection), then I notice the craft can fridge! Being a craft beer fan I was amazed (and very pleased) at what this pub in a small village had in stock! Can honestly say I've never come across such a great choice in such an unexpected location. Lovely spot, can recommend

When staying in the village for 3 nights and exploring the area, we (3 hungry men) drank in the Mason's Arms every night (excellent beer and friendly atmosphere) and returned to eat for a couple of nights (Mon & Tue). First night the steak pie was great and the chips exceptional (worthy of a top restaurant these chips: top-class). For the 2nd night, my son had fish'n'chips (very good and large portion), my brother had bobotie (a style of curry from South Africa) which he thought was excellent, and I had the lamb tagine. I will be honest - I've not eaten better a better lamb tagine (Moroccan stew) anywhere. Nothing comes in pre-cooked, all food is prepared on the premises and if this pub was in my home-town of Brighton it would be packed every night. A tremendous find and the locals are very lucky to have it on...
