Well where do I start. I’d been recommended this venue to eat on numerous occasions prior to this being our first visit with people saying how good the food was. ||With having family visiting, I pre booked a table being Easter Sunday with high expectations and was informed it was a fixed menu of two courses starter and main with an option of paying for a dessert afterwards. ||We placed our order. The restaurant was fairly busy. We ordered 4 starters of soup, chicken goujons and I had the traditional prawn cocktail. ||The starters arrived my traditional prawn cocktail was far from traditional as stated. It arrived on a plate with salad a dressing along with a tablespoon of defrosted prawns in seafood sauce along with a soggy half slice of brown bread, where this appeared to of been defrosted. Really disappointing. A traditional prawn cocktail normally arrives in a glass bowl with the prawns sitting on a bed of shredded lettuce, with a small couple of pieces of bread and butter. Nothing as expected. ||After the starters we all ordered the roast of the day consisting of potato’s vegetables a Yorkshire pudding and both beef and chicken meats. Although edible it was apparent that the meals were prepared using frozen not fresh food.||We did also buy desserts afterwards. ||Having looked forward to visiting for quite a while I can say it didn’t meet my expectations and I found it rather disappointing. I won’t...

We stayed in the pods owned by metal bridge inn. The actual pods were lovely and roomy. However the heating did not work and it only got worse from there.

We had dinner that night at the Metal Bridge Inn. When we went in we were welcomed by a lovely young lady but was sooner took over by another gentlemen. We weren’t aware we had to book in advance, a mistake of our own. However, he made us feel like a nuisance. We said we didn’t mind waiting for a table and having drinks first but he said we’d better take a table now. Which we did. He spoke to us very abruptly and it set a bad tone for the rest of our evening. We later heard another couple come in who were also staying in the pods. The same gentleman spoke to them very kindly saying ‘we will always accommodate the people staying with us’ and saying ‘they always have tables for them’. This was after he made us feel bad for taking a table and was never told this. I didn’t know if this is because we are very young couple and perhaps not took as seriously as the couple that walked in.

The food, mediocre. It’s what we expected after the service we received. However what I will say, the girls that worked in the pub were absolutely delightful and gave us fantastic service. It’s a shame that the gentlemen (who seemed to be in charge) had a lack of customer service skills and ruined our evening. I have never been spoken or made to feel awful in a...

Stopped off here during my cycle tour from John O Groats to Lands End. Cold and wet, I asked if they would allow me to pitch my tent. Initially, they said it was only really for motorhomes but having seen the state of me they took pity and allowed me to set my tent up. As I was unpacking out back, the manager came over and told me to pack up my gear. He'd spoken the owner, Roger and he'd upgraded me to one the the onsite pods!! His daughter Megan, made up the king size bed with fresh sheets....I couldn't believe the generosity. I dined in the pub that evening, a busy little spot, I met Roger and Megan, couldn't thank them enough. The food was homecooked by Roger himself and absolutely delicious. I even treat myself to a chocolate knickerbocker for pudding. I slept really well and was on the road again early. Thank you so very much Roger and Megan, I still talk about this part of my trip to everyone! Generosity and hospitality on another level. Lovely pub, great food and drink....motorhome parking, great location, great staff, pods with access to a hot shower....I highly recommend visiting if you're passing. Ps I completed the tour in 21 days!! Thank you all at The Metal Bridge Inn

My family and I have driven for over 10 hours due to major traffic delays, expecting a nice place to stay as we drive further into Scotland. We arrived at around 7:30 and our dinner reservation was at 7:45. However, when we arrived, they told us that we ‘couldn’t park after 7’ even though the sign outside the campsite said 8. This wouldn’t have been a problem if we were told while we were booking, not on the day we arrive after a long day of travelling. When we did arrive, we had little to no explanation why we couldn’t camp after a certain time. The woman behind the bar completely ignored us, continuing to talk to her colleague about some sort of irrelevant matter. Due to your 4.6 star review on google, my family thought this were be the perfect place to stay for the night but i am extremely disappointed with the level of customer service given to us. Now, my family and I are continuing with our travels, with empty stomachs and no guarantee of a place to stay. avoid the metal bridge inn. god knows why it has such good reviews.

We arrived later alot later than wed hoped, it was midnight and we didnt want to disturb anyone as a few campervans parked up. So we pulled up and climbed in the back of our caddy van and slept woke at 7am at which point the doors were open. We went in to apologise for just turning up with no warning and offered to pay, the lovely lady would not take a penny and said it was fine. We asked if they did breakfasts to which she told us she could do us a full breakfast no hesitation. It was beautiful and much appreciated. On paying for breakfast we tried to give some extra as a thank you for allowing us to park up and being so accommodating and again she would not take it. Highly recommended and hoping to head back that way on our journey home for evening meal as the menu looks awesome.great view!!
