Miah's Spencers Wood — Restaurant in England

Would not recommend Miah’s Spencer’s Wood.

The food took over an hour and a half to arrive when it arrived they forgot two of the items and the rest were cold with layers of skin on the top after being sat under a heat lamp - image below.

The food was also tasteless and plain (not what you’d expect from an Indian restaurant)

Two of their staff were lovely and helpful but sadly one of their staff was rude and aggressive and really ruined it for them (the guy pictured below)

He was rude abrupt and failed to listen when taking the order, he also got very aggressive when questioned about items on the menus and how certain deals work.

To add insult to injury after hearing how unhappy we were they then had the audacity to ask for a 15% service charge.

(On the way our spoke with another table and they echoed the same issues)

On top of all of this the place was filthy and noticed them re-filling the chutneys back up when clearing the table (that a two year old from our party had put his fingers in) they then left these on the side.

Along with this review I’ve reported them to the local Environmental Health Officer as well...

The food is great, nice atmosphere and not over attentive staff which we appreciated... Where they let themselves down we feel is leaving us with the feeling that we have been overcharged with the bill... Scribbled hand written summary of what we had with a total amount (not itemised)...We should have asked to see a menu to compare how the total was arrived at but we didn't.. Only after returning home and discussing our experience did we both agree that what we ordered shouldn't have come to the total we were asked to pay!..Now instead of remembering good things about the meal, we were now only thinking about feeling we had been over charged which is a shame...We tried contacting them afterwards by email to view our concerns and give them the opportunity to make things right but unfortunately we were not afforded the courtesy of their reply... The sad thing is we really liked the place and this wasn't our first visit... Now we're afraid of being over charged again so unfortunately we won't be returning.. If only they...

Great food but not honouring their widely advertised offer left a very nasty taste in my mouth.

We have a curry club at work and have tried a number of Indian restaurants in the Basingstoke area. I have eaten at Miah’s (both restaurant and take-away for a number of years) and managed to convince people to make the trip from Basingstoke to try it tonight.

The food was great as usual but we had a nasty surprise when the bill arrived. Outside the restaurant there is a big banner saying Mamna Miah’s 2 for 1 on mains from Sunday to Thursday - this offer wasn’t applied to the bill. When I queried this I was told it only applied to advance bookings (we did book 24 hours in advance) and that you had to mention the offer when ordering. However their banner gives no terms and conditions. At the end of the day we were talking about £30 off a £250 bill so not an enormous amount of money; however this experience has really made me question whether I shall use Miah’s again. Really poor customer service. Not...
