Been here 3 times now and find it perfect for our needs. It's a pub with accommodation which is also frequented by locals of the village who I found friendly and welcoming. It's one of those things called 'use it or lose it'. It can get busy, but that's good for the pub and gives employment to locals. Good variety of beer and wines too. The food is also very good with varied menus and is not produced in minutes, you have to wait until it's freshly cooked so just chill with a drink. Got a few more short breaks arranged here and can't wait. Perfectly located for easy access to the small and quaint villages of North Yorkshire and the coast. If the weather's good the outdoor seated area on the patio is bliss. They had a wild west theme night on one night we were there. This included fancy dress, line dancing in the outdoor marquee and bull riding. Thankfully the weather held out and the atmosphere was brilliant. Yes it was busier but they coped, just be patient. Read moreWhat an unfriendly atmosphere! We saw a feature about the village and decided to visit. We thought that, as we’d had a lovely day, we’d round it off by popping into the Moors Inn for a drink before heading back to our cottage. As soon as we walked in, we felt so unwelcome. The bar was crowded with locals who were drinking and chatting and as we walked in, they stopped talking and stared at us before resuming their conversations. No effort was made to let me near the bar, so I squeezed in when I saw a gap. I said “Hello” to the guy next to me at the bar , but he just glared at me. We felt really uncomfortable and unwelcome, but felt rude just walking out, so we got a drink and sat outside. It felt like a replay of “An American Werewolf in London” when the lads walked into the Slaughtered Lamb. We drank up quickly and left. It was such an unfriendly pub set in such a pretty village. Perhaps they thought we were intruding, but it costs nothing to be polite. We...
Read moreStayed here 2 weeks ago. We didn't read reviews, just liked the look of the building & that it is dog friendly. Also, because it's not far from some of the places we wanted to visit; Whitby, Scarborough & Thornton le Dale to name a few. We travelled from Hampshire for a few days away for partners special birthday & after we booked in, we had a meal here. We had pre booked all evening meals for our stay, so a table was reserved for us each night. Food is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! There is a normal menu plus a specials board. I can't rate this high enough. We had breakfast here also & the full English set us up for the day & a sausage was supplied each morning for our pup. The staff here are super friendly & super helpful. The village is very quiet & idyllic, just fields & fields, perfect for dog walking. The room was lovely, with clean white bedding & beautiful big en-suite. HIGHLY RECOMMEND a stay here. Thank you to all the staff & hope we can return...
