A Hidden Gem with Exceptional Hospitality
Last weekend, I found myself in an unexpected situation while out on a bike ride with a friend. We encountered a mechanical issue with one of our bikes, which brought our ride to an abrupt halt. Fortunately, we were near The New Inn in Manaccan, Cornwall, and decided to pop in for a coffee and some soft drinks while we attempted to make repairs.
From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The landlady and locals were incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to assist us. Not only did they provide us with the necessary tools to try and fix the bike, but they also offered valuable advice and moral support throughout the process.
Although we weren’t able to get the bike fully repaired, the experience at The New Inn was truly memorable. The cozy ambiance, delicious drinks, and exceptional hospitality made a potentially stressful situation much more enjoyable.
The New Inn is a little out of the way, but it is well worth a visit. Whether you're a cyclist in need of a pit stop or simply looking for a charming pub with great service, this place is a hidden gem in Cornwall. We are extremely grateful to the staff and locals for their kindness and support, and we look forward to visiting again under happier circumstances.

Read moreVery welcoming, vibrant village pub and they were able to accommodate two of us for food on a warm August evening with ease and charm. Lovely potted geraniums and begonias outside giving the place a lovely, traditional look and will definitely appeal to the nostalgists and passing tourist. Good range of beers and a pleasant atmosphere in the bar with a good crowd of cheerful locals. Our server showed us into the conservatory which was spacious and light but a little devoid of the same bar buzz and we opted for the quieter space near the kitchen. This was pleasant but we felt that it too, although charming was a bit short on ambience. Clean, comfortable and pleasant enough though. The food was amazing! We both had the Frito Misto which was a succulent medley of delicious sea food treasures served with good new potatoes and a salad. The scallops alone evoke a profound emotion in me that I know will be best recalled in tranquility. Delicious. Divine, possibly. Servers were smiley, charming and helpful. I get the impression that the New Inn is on an upward trajectory and I hope very much to return to see it thriving. We were here 20 years ago and I seem to recall a happy enough experience. Really glad to see the place apparently doing well now. Keep...
Read moreReally bad experience here. Told we couldn’t order any food as the kitchen had closed (5 mins before we arrived). That would’ve been fair enough had the owners not proceeded to tuck into their own roast dinner right in front of our group. Rude and unprofessional to say the least. Service was unfriendly and poor when there was any. Our drinks orders were completely wrong on two separate occasions. We were also told we had to sit outside due to covid as there was no space inside the pub. The Landlord assured us we would be invited in when there was room inside. However, we were forgotten about and had to go and ask again after sitting outside in the cold for two hours before they let us in. Also clearly over serving people and our group was harassed by a blind drunk man who couldn’t string a sentence together. Did not feel welcome at all. Save yourself the bother and go to the Shipwright Arms or Five Pilchards in Porthallow instead. They are much...
