Yesterday I tried Nice Baps for the first time whilst on my way to visit Tintagel Castle. I was initially inspired to come and try this place after seeing a video review by the legendary Gary Eats on YouTube a couple of months ago. I arrived here in Cornwall from Manchester a few days ago and Nice Baps has been the food spot I've been looking forward to trying the most! I've been looking forward to coming here for months and boy did it live up to my anticipations!
I really wanted to go big on the experience but I knew I was in for a long day of walking and didn't want to be bloated so I opted for a standard bacon cheese burger and a hot chocolate. The missus got a bacon and egg bap, a coffee and a strawberry milkshake.
I honestly can't even find the words to describe how good my burger was. It was ridiculously delicious! This burger was hands down the best beef burger I've ever had in my life. The bap was fresh and soft and perfectly buttery inside. The bacon was thick and absolutely full of flavour. The beef patty was cooked to perfection it was juicy and meaty and fresh to the absolute highest quality. The cheese was perfectly melted and gooey and oozing with flavour. It was literally the perfect burger. And it was more than enough! It was filling and at only £4.50 not only was this the best tasting burger I've ever had it was easily the best value burger I've ever had. Possibly the best value for money single food item I've ever bought. It's cheaper than a BigMac and thousands of times better it's an absolute no brainer.
My hot chocolate was thick and creamy, the balance of chocolate flavour and the sweetness was just right to make every last sip enjoyable.
My missus said her bacon and egg bap was the best breakfast bap she's ever had the egg was lovely and runny and the bacon was cooked crispy to her preference ad requested.
Her strawberry milkshake was okay. It tasted to me like the Nesquick ones we has as kids where you add the milk to the flavoured sugar. It wasn't the best strawberry milkshake in the world but it was refreshing enough and it was only £2.50 so more than reasonable. Wasn't going to expect freshly prepared with real strawberries for under £5.
She also said her coffee was really good.
She then bought me a brownie which was superbly executed. I've never bit into a brownie so soft! It was rich and indulgent and all 3 bites were a journey of pleasure!
I also ordered a sausage roll for the road. £2.50 maybe a little pricey for the quality I'll be honest it wasn't anything special it was okay I guess maybe a 7/10 sausage roll being generous. But it's not a reflection of Nice Baps as I don't believe its their own product? It seems to be a bakery brand they sell on behalf of.
Overall for the quality of food and the prices, the excellent flavours and portions and value for money with a couple of things that could be slightly better I've got to rate this place a 9/10. I can't wait to come back.
I also forgot to mention how friendly and welcoming the lady who took my order was....
Read moreGreetings, burger enthusiasts and roadside café connoisseurs! Grab your napkins, lean in, and let me tell you about a magical place that’ll turn your average highway pit stop into a gourmet getaway. I'm talking about Nice Baps, a gem of a spot where they take your baps seriously. And no, not those baps; I mean the bready ones, you cheeky rascal!
Nestled in the culinary wonderland between Wadebridge and Camelford, just off the A39 (so easy to find, it practically waves at you as you drive by), this family-run café is so heartwarming, it could melt butter on a cold scone.
Missed Kevin, the owner? I did too! The guy's a character who probably high-fives unicorns in his spare time. But fret not, his wife Laura was there, holding down the fort with her sister. You know it's all love and laughter when the family's in charge.
The food? Imagine if taste had a superhero; it would be Nice Baps' Atlantic Chicken Burger. Not just one, but two juicy pieces of chicken lounging on a bed of bacon, cheese, and fresh lettuce, all cuddled up in a soft bun. It's like a delicious family reunion in your mouth, minus the awkward conversations with Uncle Bob.
Portions? Bigger than your grandma's hug. Prices? Friendlier than your dog when you walk in the door. And the fact that they turned down Costa's offer of £750k? Priceless, like a winning lottery ticket dipped in gold.
Gordon Ramsay pops in. David Cameron's been seen munching away. If this place had a VIP list, it would read like a who's who of "People Who Know a Good Thing When They Eat It."
Compared to that other spot up the road (ahem, St Kew, I'm looking at you), Nice Baps is the café equivalent of a rock concert headlined by a burger-toting Elvis.
Open Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 3 PM, and oh-so-cruelly closed on Sundays. It's like a little roadside tease, reminding you of what could be if only you’d passed by on a different day.
So, dear fellow travelers on the road of deliciousness, make a pit stop at Nice Baps. Special journeys deserve special burgers, and this café has them in spades. It's a place where every bap is nice, every customer is family, and every bite is a celebration.
I'll be back. You should too. But not on Sundays. On Sundays, we weep, dream of chicken burgers, and count down the hours to...
Read moreI won't be reviewing the food of Nice Baps, but rather the service as I did not actually visit the cafe but instead met who I can only assume is the owner. Me and my friend were walking through Wadebridge, when we decided to get a drink from Costa. After we had got our drinks, my friend then decided to visit the Malcolm Barnecutts next door. As we walked in, the gentleman who was wearing the Nice Baps uniform confronted me and my friend and started running his mouth telling us that "Costa is a multi million pound company" and that "these people make perfectly good coffee" as we left the building absolutely shocked he then proceeded to call us tight-arses. Not once did me and my friend say anything back to him or even inspire him to kick up a fuss. If this gentleman was the owner of the cafe then I hope this is not a reoccurring theme that customers see within their business hours as I wouldn't wish service like this to anyone. Fair enough that it was outside of business hours but to kick up such a petty fuss and still be in uniform is completely absurd. My first impression of Nice Baps has been met with arrogance and downright rudeness and service like this gives smaller companies in the area a bad name. I won't be visiting this place...
