I planned my route from Rothwell, NH toward Stonehenge and then towards Tintagel Castle the day before and looked for a restaurant for the lunch in the Yeovil area. By looking at the images on Tripadvisor, I chose this place. I missed the route on Waze, but I drove back to this place and sad to see that we were late (couldn't make it before 14:00). But the chef having seen un with our 8 months old baby, offered us to make pizza for us if we are happy to have it. So we were thankful and accepted. He was supposed to start the next (busy) shift in 1 more hour but still was so generous to work within his off time on behalf of us.
We were rushed to select items from the menu, but he nicely asked us to take time and place the order. Even if we thought that Pizza was the only thing that he could make by that time, he also made a starter dish for us, which was one of the best Calamari dishes we ever had. Then, once we were finished with it, he brought two fresh, crispy and very-Italian pizzas that we ordered, and those were very tasty. Even if we were full and had enough with the quantity, we finished almost everything because those were too tasty!
The place and the interior also looked pretty cool and very very welcoming! They had a nice collection of wine and stuff which I had to miss as I was supposed to drive after that. Our daughter also remained very calm and started to play in the area where they had a few the nice and comforting sofas. The place was spotlessly clean and had been decorated in a very authentic way.
If you happen to drive passing by, just don't forget to try this place. It's a great place to be located in a beautiful little town!! I am sure you, your friends or family will have an absolutely a great time. Without even knowing, we nearly spent 2 hours there.
Also, I must truly appreciate the kindness and humanness of the chef (I believe that he possibly is is the owner) who welcomed us even during offline ours and made sure that we get the best. The overall experience absolutely exceeded my...
Read moreThe weekend before Christmas my brother and I with our partners had attended the local carol service on the green opposite your restaurant which was perfect as we then had a dinner reservation with you.
On arrival we ordered the wine and meals, I had the Risotto Marinara which included a handful of mussels and a couple of calamari rings which I found to be chewy and a little tough. Not wishing to make a fuss as the rice was good I chose to eat most of it before mentioning it to the waitress who repeatedly told me that the seafood was fresh and I could see the invoices which I politely declined. I was then told I should have mentioned this at the start but I did not want a situation where the others had finished their meals when my replacement arrived.
At no time did I ask for a refund, I simply mentioned the over cooked seafood to raise awareness to the kitchen for any future orders.
After dessert we decided to leave and I went to pay the bill and was offered a reduction of £1.72 which I said was not necessary and wished the waitress a merry Christmas and shook her hand.
At that time I was unaware that 2 of the male kitchen staff had been summoned into the restaurant presumably in case of any disagreement!
We are all in our late 60s, I myself am 68 so were you worried in case we ran away without paying the bill or perhaps start a fight having been cheerful, respectful and pleasant all evening, SHAME ON YOU!
In my life I have visited thousands of restaurants in the UK and around the world and never experienced anything like this, needless to say we will...
Read moreI recently visited an Italian restaurant with my friend, and while there were some good aspects, there were also a few disappointments.
I specifically called to reserve a table at a time that suited me. However, when I called, the staff asked if I could come earlier because they would be very busy at my chosen time. I explained that this was the only time that worked for me, so I stuck to my original plan.
When we arrived, our table was ready on time, which was nice. However, the tables were quite small, and we were seated in a corner, which felt a bit awkward. There were other available tables, so I’m not sure why we were placed there.
The food was quite good—we both ordered pizza and had no major complaints about it. My friend ordered a canned drink, while I chose a fruit-based drink, which turned out to be mostly fruit with very little actual liquid. It was a bit strange, but perhaps that’s just their style of serving.
One of the biggest downsides was that the restaurant was very cold. Considering they have a large oven, I expected it to be warmer, but we had to keep our coats on while eating. Additionally, the waitresses kept walking back and forth around the tables, often tripping over the chairs, which made the whole service feel a bit chaotic.
At the end of our meal, we received a small flower as a nice gesture from the staff, which was appreciated.
Would I go back? Probably not. The food was fine, but the overall experience and atmosphere didn’t make me...
