My sister found and booked this restaurant. She's familiar with the chain (and the NHS discount), and so it came as an easy recommendation and choice. She and a friend of mine helped me move to the area yesterday (Sunday), so I treated them both to an evening meal.
Parking was super easy, as there's plenty of free parking on the doorstep of a handful of similar businesses nearby.
Lots of (entirely?) friendly, young female staff. Smart.
We were allowed to put drinks and food on a tab associated with our booking. They had the best presented condiments and cutlery section I've ever seen. Great ambience - general sound, but hardly any loud noise. We never had a problem hearing each other.
We were expecting to be met with something akin to "I don't have a button for that" when asking for alterations to our food choices (like adding cheese to sweet potato fries), but it was all taken in their stride, and fulfilled with confidence.
It seems like this place is managed with love and competence.
I had a serendipitous discovery: pineapple cider - yum! Great with some ice after a long and hot day of house moving.
Food was on the interesting side of standard in terms of choices with clearly marked veggy options, etc. Good quality and delicious. Though, I was a little sad inside that there was only 1 sausage with my Full English Breakfast - upon further inspection, the menu does say 'sausage', rather than 'sausages' so I didn't feel I was in complaint territory. But for a meal that tends to appeal to hearty eaters, it evoked the psychological equivalent of a quivering bottom lip. The amount of words I've used describing this slight and only negative of our entire experience far out-weighs my actual level of disappointment - but on a serious note, I would rather have had 2 sausages as standard and just pay a bit more. I don't think anybody would be disappointed by that.
With mains and desserts (and the NHS discount), it was close to £20 per person. Great value for money.
In all, a delightful evening. Thank you for an enjoyable first night and restaurant experience in Wellingborough! This one goes straight into the favourites list in my mind.

Read moreI visited the Oak and Dough on Saturday 11/06/2022 with two of my friends. I am regular patron. We ordered food unfortunately there was an error as an extra meal was added. We were given a half-printed receipt. On checking why, the bill was more than what we expected that it was, we found out that there was an extra meal. We queried this with a very professional approachable bar attendant who explained how that happened and apologised. We requested for refund. The bar tender escalated this to the lady who was the duty manager. The duty manager approached us with a negative attitude, was not prepared to listen to our story. She had already made her decision that she was not going listen or refund us. I challenged her attitude and approach. She swore at us and walked off saying ‘’I can’t deal with these people’’. I felt very racially marginalised by her behaviour towards us. This was a genuine mistake from the bar tender but the way the duty manager handled this issue left a lot to be desired for her managerial skills. It became more of concern when another member of staff from the team said “this what we put up with everyday” We are of ethnic minority, and we never felt this humiliated due to being racially marginalised over a mistake that was not ours. I would like to express my uttermost disgrace over the way the duty manager attended to us, this was the height of unprofessional conduct I have ever come across in life. Having said this we were refunded our money on condition that “you are never welcome to this place again”. I requested to speak to someone superior to the duty manager. I was told that the superior was not willing to talk to us and said we should leave the premises immediately. Due to respect, we left the place. I never thought that Oak and Dough staff can racially marginalise people of...
Read moreI took my family out for meal as a treat as money is tight at the moment. We ordered food and waited patiently for our meals. Service was good and friendly. When our mains turned up my mixed grill had a very very well done steak and I asked for it medium. I asked the server if she could get it medium and she said yes and took my meal away. She returned ten minutes later with the meal and the steak was a little better but still not medium but I didn’t want to wait any longer for it to be cooked again, so I said it was ok. I should have paid extra attention to the rest of the food as it was really undercooked. I also didn’t receive the gravy that I ordered. I left most of my meal and when it was cleared away the server asked if everything was ok, I said my food was awful. She said she would report this back to the team. I was expecting a manager to come over as a minimum but nobody appeared. In these times treats are few and far between and I feel we were really left feeling disappointed and this ruined a family night out. We spent about £80-90 in all and didn’t feel this was value for money or valued as a customer. I would like a reply off the management team as you couldn’t be bothered on the day. Our visit was on Sunday 24th July around 7pm order number 640517854. There were also another food order and several drinks orders to table 4.
I contacted you on the email suggested with my contact details 5 days ago and still not had a reply or phone call. This really adds to the...
